does anyone know any 2d MMORPG's that are actually fun and have large communities? (other than maple story)

    UO (ultima online) gives u the option of playing in 2d. very outdated graphics but great gameplay

    Just for the hell of asking - What have you got against 3d? the new generation of mmorpgs are all coming in 3d and some have excellent ideas to implement. Forcing yourself to back-play could work against you.

    imo i wouldnt goto uo unless u have a previous account with ALOT of money... by the time it takes u to get up there and get the artys u need to compete with the regular pvpers in yew ... the game will have changed again drastically.. unless of coruse ebaying is ur kind of thing.. also vet accounts help aloooooooooooot... skill bonus and crappy cloak... ethys are important too.. but the chargers can do the same thing just alot of people assosicate chargers as a newb magnet

    Oh and 8x8 is gone so... its alittle bit longer to 120 the skills u need

    Only 2d MMO that i could think of right now with a somewhat large community is UO ... but do urself a favor and play it for free
