Where is "The Wheel of Time Online"?

I'm new to your community here sooooo hello everyone and on with my show.

Granted that the WoT's gaming breakthrough was kind of weak (I dont even remember what the subtitle was), I think it would be fitting to give it another go as a MMORPG.  I have been thinking about it for awhile now.  Here are some of my ideas for what they're worth.  Please add on or flame on as you see fit.

1)  Factions - you could have 5 factions to play.  White Tower, Black Tower, Dark One, Neutral, and the Children of The Light.

     A) White Tower - This would be the "Tar Valon Witches", Scouts, and Warders.  Tar Valon would obviously be the starting location for this faction.  Tradeskills would include things like the making of the various agreal types.  I think it would be cool if there was a forced colaboration between the white and black towers to make sa'angreals.  Also there would need to be a limit per server of them.  Ive always wanted to see a tradeskill that involves multiple people. (I.E. 5 master carpenters needed to make a guild house)

     B) Black Tower - These would be the Ashamen of Rand Al'Thor's creation.  The starting point would be the black tower outside Caemlyn.  I'm not entirely sure what Tradeskills you would use here.  In the books, the Ashamen were farmers, and smiths, etc etc, so maybe giving them the normal tradeskills but enhanced due to their half of the one power.

     C) Dark One - These would be the followers of the dark one himself.  The starting location would be Shayol Ghul.  I suppose that the starting point could really be at all the civilized parts of the world due to their vast network of corrupted spies.  The same could be said for the White Tower I suppose, but for the white tower, it doesnt make much sense, so I'm leaving it at just the dark one faction.  Tradeskills would be the normal ones, but somehow you would think the taint could be added to them.

     D) Neutral - Neutrals are anyone not related to the other factions.  People that could be warriors, or tradeskill people, Wisdoms of villages or whatever.  Their starting point could be any city.  Their tradeskills would be normal.  I would like to see this faction have something special, like the bility to goto any city as a "city" faction whereas the other factions would not be welcomed into certain cities and villages.  You could also allow them certain opportunites to convert to the other factions in the form of quests.. or actions or whatever.  Maybe everyone could start as this faction for a few levels and then after the dev's think there has been enough "Tutorial" in the beginning, you would branch off into your perspective chosen faction.  (I.E. a female player wanting to be an Aes Sedai could bump into an Aes Sedai that sees a spark in her of the one power.)

     E) Children of the Light - These would be the "Whitecloaks".  I had something special in mind for them.  As you gain ranks and make your way into positions that would be leadership positions, you are granted men that act as your pets.  Obviously balancing this would be tricky, but I think it could be done fairly.  For the record, I hate the Whitecloaks and am in no way letting that bias govern my ideas for this faction.  I just see their faction as no matter what they do, its always going to be a knife at a gunfight with the other factions.  I think they would be  the hardest to balance.  Give them rewards and penalties while keeping them fun to play.

     F) I was thinking about adding the Aiel but then i thought... why?  Shouldn't they be a faction that is just interacted with?  If they werent so integral into the system of WoT, I would even say they and their desert would be a great expansion pack =)  The Tinkers could be playable as tradeskill only i suppose, but there again, I ask why?  Where is the balance?  I suppose they could be SUPER tradeskill people, but whatever hehe.

2) Classes - This one is interesting and I think this will be where most replies will stem from on this forum.  I'm leaving the lists light so the discussions can be better.

     A) White Tower - Warder, Aes Sedai, Spy

     B) Black Tower - Ashaman

     C) Dark One - Drakagar, Trolloc, Dark Friend, maybe some could become a Chosen One.

     D) Neutral - Thief Catcher, Warrior, Rogue, Blade Master etc etc.

     E) Children of the Light - The different ranks, Iquisitor

3) Starting Locations - These are pretty obvious to fans, but I'll list what I can remember.  Caemlyn, Tar Valon, Black Tower, Tarabon, Illian, Tear, Cairhien, Maradon, Falme, maybe Tanchico, Baerlon (interesting premise for an M rated game j/k hehe), and Amadicia.

Sorry for the length and I hope it was a worthwhile read for you.

I don't know what it's like now, but a year ago Neverwinter Nights had two rivaling WoT modules all set in the Third Age. Those had been active for a long time with custom trollocs modells and everything, and their own small communities. Nothing on an MMO scale of course, but enough to keep the ones playing it entertained. And unlike MMOs you have GMs who participate to enhance the experience. You could probably find them on the official site if they're still around and you're interested.

Personally I hope the Wheel of Time is never put into movies or games. They couldn't possibly do the fantastic series justice in any other medium than books. I know there's been at least one RPG out, but it was based on a different age, with unrelated characters, so it's not like you're disturbing the order of things :)

There are a bunch of Wheel of Time MUDs and MUSHes, too; in fact, there are 39 listings at the Mud Connector that are partially or completely based on the series. Some have strict roleplay, some are largely hack 'n slash, some have pvp, some have a mix of stuff. Nearly all of them have a custom-coded system for channeling, and many have sword forms, etc. If text doesn't bother you (and I assume it doesn't, since you've the books), you might give some of them a try.

Just out of curiosity, is that a boy or a girl in that pic? I say Hanson, but my wife says Gretel.

Personally, I never found the Wheel of Time world compelling. I'm sure someone will make it into a MMOG at some point.

I'd love to see Zelazny's Amber universe realized.

I think you've got a pretty good idea going here. I would definetly love seeing a new WoT game (of any genre really) and now that the LOTR is going MMO it doesn't really seem so farfetched either.

If you're lucky you could send a tip to Turbine and they might be able to use the same engine as LOTR for the WoT

And I really like the different "factions". In the neutral faction there could also be thief catchers and crafters.

Edit: Oh and yeah, I'm also new here. So "Heya!"

At one point in time I think they made a WoT rpg but it got bad reviews. I also read somewhere they were going to make it an mmmorpg but think that idea died :(

I have read these books since 1989, (bout time Robert Jordan wraps up the series too) and would LOVE to see this become a mmmorpg. I would definately be an aes sedai :P

    The Wheel of Time

It was a FPS, with some concept of 4-way RvR action. Never really took off.
