Hmmm recently the game is actually better than it was at release.... I actually wound up re-subscribing.  As I posted in another thread we had 4 continents locked this past Saturday.  A BUNCH of old outfits have come back to the game as well.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

    I loved launch.

    • Was new
    • Seeing amazing battles for the first time
    • Loads of conts locked at the same time
    • Amerish foot zergs (best island)
    • The weekend long battles for forseral and Cyssor.
    • THe peoples
    • THe guilds
    • No BFRs
    • Reavers were usefuly
    • Glowing force blade (vanu)
    • Surge with guns
    • bailing from aircrafts when damaged then shooting that aircraft down.

    etc. etc.

And top of the list, the Vindicators Gen Ritual! Harnessing the mystical power of the mighty Glowy Knives and the Generator's departing soul, those brave adepts attempt to unlock the hodden power that is CR6 and unleash the ancient CUD of Infinite O/S! (critics say that this ritual may have been DIRECTLY responsible for the subsequent destruction of Oshur, but we scoff at such assertions)

there has been mention of FOUR conts locked at the same time, since the Reserves came in. you will still, on occasion, get footzergs on Amerish, you still get battles lasting days - though it's generally Ishundar or Cyssor now (unless we go to D- sorry, give me a moment... d... d... DAGDA DAGDA DAGDA DAGDA DAGDA DAGDA DAG- damnit! um, yeah, DAGDA DAGD-... that place). As for guilds, many of the old ones are still around, at least on Emerald... SturmGrenadier are making a resurgence, the Vindies are still around naturally, Old Zergful themselves, Azure Twilight are still up and running (and even do something tactical every now and then, though that might be accidental -j/k :)). i can't talk about the NC/TR (except to say i sometimes miss the Enclave - what happened to them?) but there are plenty of strong Vanu outfits out there now.

For no BFRs... i agree with you to an extent. don't much like them myself, though i think it's ridiculous the way some people say they 'ruin' the game. they're basically just a big tank, with the same strengths and weaknesses. if you can deal with Mags and Vanguards, you can deal with Biffers. for the rest... apart from Reavers (what exactly did they do to them anyway? or are you just complaining about Skyguards/AA MAXes/etc.?), i think all the things you mention were perfectly sensible changes.

the Glowing force blade was cool... except that it was the only one which did it. if they'd put, say, a glowing red outline on the chainblade and some kind of blue motion blur on the (NC knife - cant' remember the name), that would have worked too - though giving people LESS incentive to use knives seems a little excessive).

Surgile was a pain in the ass, there's enough warping in combat without it. people bouncing from wall to wall... while i enjoyed watching two surgiles flying around a room trying to hit each other until one ran out of Stamina, no, i don't miss it.

bailing from aircraft? you can still do that. just not when your'e quite thoroughly beaten and your only reason for doing so would be to deny your opponent the XP.

It's not funny, it's not clever, and it WILL break if you play with it.

Two and a half years after first subscribing it's still a great game, probably the best PVP out there . I don't know any other MMO that offers collaboration on the scale PlanetSide does. Sure other games allow you to team up and fight/mine/trade etc. but what other game gives you vehicles and planes that can use multiple players to max out the potential, the Liberator bomber and Prowler tank are great examples of this. Nope, PlanetSide still has me captivated

I did get pissed off with the lag and cheating and dumped the game for nine months and went to play, dare I say, EVE Online. The PVP sucks as pretty much all you see is coloured squares on the screen, purple for friends, orange for low sec pilots and red for scrappers, but they are just little squares on the screen, that aint PVP for me. On top of this, the game has an economy, everything costs money (ISK). Naturally, this causes a flourishing trade on eBay (See http://video-games.listings.ebay.co.uk/Internet-Games_Eve-Online_W0QQfclZ3QQfromZR11QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsacatZ68249QQsbrsrtZdQQsocmdZListingItemList ) so many players make a real living out of this . On top of this, if your fighting and say dart behind an asteroid for cover, you get none, the weapons fire passes straight through as if the asteroid is not there. Strange that

But again, not really a PVP game and it certainly does not allow the intimate collaboration PlanetSide does. So my buddies who carried on playing told me that all the issues had been resolved and I came back and sure enough fell back head over heels in love with it again. Rock on PlanetSide, I look forward to the next two and a half years  PlanetSide does NOT need an economy, more depth or any of that type of stuff found in RPG's, it's PvP FPS at it's finest. Just keep evolving and developing it please

Doesn't matter what they do, you can never get the good old days back when everyone was a noob and it was simple.
