Ok I went through all the threads on this quilt of destruction and I didn't see one on communication. Almost all mmo's out there used the small chat box at the bottom of the screen, and though I always used it to keep up with different conversations I have always LOVED the comicbook style chat windows that open above someones head when they speak. Seems like it was always easier to keep up with and I was in a town full of people selling different wares I could always find the one I want by watching what they say and not trying to play match the name with the vendor.
I hope this is they way FE is leaning though I havn't seen anything yet on the subject.

About a year back, i think, there was an article stating that they were thinking of trying to intigrate voice chat along with typing. This would be very cool and useful when trying to coordinate and stratigize.
There was a game that came out a couple of years ago called "There" that uses voice communication, so I know that the technology is out there. The really cool part of their voice com was that the avitar would actually move while you talked, a neat example was if I said "I dunno" my toon would shrug his shoulders or shake his head. And they had hand movement and body language that went along with the speech program.
It took a while to set up, but once it was set up the animations would leave you... well... speechless.
Along those lines, it would be really cool to see hand signals in FE. Kinda like in the games SWAT, and other FPS squad based games. Heck, even DoD, and CS had hand signals... even though nobody uses them.
