i have to agree that interview with the vampire was way better than dracula....anyways....vampires branch back in history to the germanic cannibals....The other details like they die in the sun were just for the movie version.

the sabath thing is jewish, it is like the 'christain' sunday (they don't read the bible.) It is from sundown fri to sat and is the scriptural time to praise G. The celt developed from the picts (blue painted guys in Braveheart.) Witchcraft is occult (eg. astrology, alchemy, divination,) practise outside orthodox religious society. Moses had some serious magic to free the jews from egypt. Even JC (Yeshua) demonstrated magic (doubling bread/fish/wine, raising the dead, curing disease.) Contemporary witchcraft is not 'evil' per say. It was a neopagan revival. Diabolism (aka Satanism) is the invocation of Devils (those angles that left heaven with Lucifer [1/3 of the host of heaven.]) Sorcery is that magis accessable by ordinary people through the use of charms or helpful spirits. It is found in most all traditional societies, though the distinction is often blured in how it differs from religion (ie. sacred engagement believed to be a spiritual reality. [A worldwide phenomenon that plays a significant role to persecute undesirables.]) Sorcery forces results rather than achieving them through entreaty. Wicca (anglo-saxon word for witchcraft) is modern witchcraft. A revival of pre-christain paganism. Simply wicca is the nature and fertility religion of pre-christain europe. Coven witchcraft is largly a development of 1700 to 1800 writings with colourful rituals/ ceremonies that challenged the conventional religion and society. This counterculture was targeted by the catholic inquisition and when they ran out of witches they moved on to jews and moslems. Dianic wiccan groups are women only and worship Diana (ie. roman goddess of the moon and the hunt. Latin virgin goddess Artemis guardian of the hearth.) Wiccans shun some of the old pagan practices (eg. animal sacrifice,) and perceives itself as a religion based on broad themes of ancient pre-christain peganism (love of nature, equality of male and female...) though not drawn directly from peganism.
Wow I just read alot of opinions about "Wicca" or witchcraft... I am a Christian and believe that ANY kind of Magic,Paganism,Witchcraft is not good. That even goes as far as Disney's obsession with magic... I.E. "The Magic Kingdom" I know I'll prolly get flamed for this but oh well, it's my opinion. Take care and be strong!
the sabath is rule #4 in the top 10 of 613 comandments. It is when jews worship so that makes it like 'christain's' sunday where some go to church, vs the jews on friday. to synagouge There are the astronomical equinox type sabath and other anual high holy days (eg. yom kippor,) but the core sabath is the weekly day of worship that orthodox types get very picky about (ie. working and cleanliness.)

actually you can go way farther back in history if you want to look at vampirical history...ever hear of the cainaniites? They supposedly branch back to cain (adam and eve's son). The legend is that his curse from god "to walk the land alone forever" is translated into him being the first vampire.

"the sabath thing is jewish, it is like the 'christain' sunday"
yeah...if you look in the dictionary the sabbath only refers to Jews and Christians. Jewish Saturday=Sabbath and Christian Sunday=Sabbath. People change however, and along with them the dictionary... I don't really know any scriptural references to the Sabbath being on Sunday as we, Christians, most often practice it but I try to keep Saturday as the day of rest and keep it holy (if that's at all possible with today's culture in America and the impact it's had on its citizens, myself included).

More then 1 religon uses the word sabbath my friend. The sabbath that is relivant to this discussion has nothing to do with the jewish.
If you heard someone say pie it doesnt automatically mean apple pie.
