Hello

I have been playing eve for almost a year and i feel the need to take a break.  I was just wondering what other games do some of you play.  I am not looking for a flamefest of what's the best game just point in a direction that i can follow.  possibly making a long list a little bit shorter.  I am kinda looking into The saga of Ryzom atm and awaiting what ppl say about seed.

I was in a similar position when SWG went NGE.  I played damn near every MMO on the market over the next couple months and was actually kinda disheartened at the fact none really held my attention long.  My first warning would be avoid SOE games as they seem to be getting more and more shaddy with the way they are handling their games.  If you decide to go the free route many of them seem really really similar, but I do feel inclined to mention two games in that area, first on the good side Silkroad.

Silkroad seems really deep, has great graphics for a freebie and seems hacker free for the most part.  On the opposite end of the spectrum avoid Knight online like the plague, shaddy company runs it hackers galore, exploits duped items hacked accounts etc...

If you are going the pay route I would suggest a couple of games.  I'm currently playing COH/COV since you get both for one monthly fee and I was absolutely sick of the fantasy theme.  Great games but they do lack depth in some areas which is starting to bug me.

Another choice I've tried recently was Dungeons and Dragons Online, not a bad game but man its linear and lacking in content.  There is no crafting and most everything is instance based and is located in one large city. For me the nail in the coffin for it was the lackluster combat, and the lack of variety.

Guild Wars is fun for a game to play on the side but I really wouldn't play it as my main mmo, due to the level limit and the focus on pvp.

I've also been messing around with Saga of Ryzom and I really dig the game so far though I"m still on the free  beginners island(another reason to give it a try).  But I can say after playing wow this game does alot of the same things but in a much better fashion.

IF the sci-fi thing is your cup of team yoru options have become a bit limited since SWG was torn apart and your already playing EVE online but you might give anarchy online a shot, great game system but man the graphics engine is looking dated and the lag in the cities is really bad.

Hope this helps, I'm really disheartened by the choices available out there atm but its a personal preference thing I suppose.

    Peace

Played CoH before WoW came out and I recently reactivated my sub for a month and got bored in 2 weeks, I hear CoV is much better but I can't be arsed to buy it :P

Autoassault is a good game and would be fun if more people played it, but as it is there is no PvP and it only takes you a few weeks to cap out so you would be finished with that in a month or two I reckon.

TBH the only thing that seems to be holding my attention is Eve......although I am waiting for Conan so when that comes out  will most likely cancel my sub to WoW(its hard letting go of characters :D)

    Hello

    Thanks for the ideas's

I really do not know anything about connan but i will look into it.  i am kinda ecited about WAR and tbh i may resubscribe to wow when the new expantion comes out.I really liked the quests in wow and i think the questing in eve is the biggest disapointment.  My roomate is a big comic book fan and may try to get him to buy coh/cov ;>

I play Counter Strike and Day of Defeat.  $20 a piece, and they offer me anywhere from a 30 minute break to a 3 hour break to a 3 day break.

Also, I replay F.E.A.R. and FarCry on harder settings each time.  Though, I'm only good for once more on each game.  But, if the hardest setting treats me worse than the previous... I'll be playing it for a month or so before beating just one.

As far as MMOs go... NCSoft has free demos for all of their games.  Their games all suck, imho, but if you need a short break meaning a week or two... then free trials are just the way to go.

We can agree to disagree, or we can bicker constantly... either way, I'm right.
