How many hrs/week required to play

NaxtorNaxtor Member Posts: 38
I help run an end-game raiding guild in WoW PVE.  I've done some PVPing and would like to do more.  I find that to really be successful now one needs to play 2 or 3x per week.  Is this also the case in EVE?  Or do some guilds / corporations allow folks more leeway?

I actually recall the early days of WoW.  Three or four hours / week was plenty of time to feel "accomplished."  Is that possible in EVE?

So that's 3-4 hours x 5 days per week = 15-20 hours per week?  Yikes...

some games demand items to be on par with other players,in a few games its allmost 100% important to have the best possible all the time,.But,...Zzzz in eve the things you need to stay on par with other players is not rare and its not game breaking to get to that level of play.and you can get them solo at your own pace,.

Theres lots of corps that dont boot there inactive players, just dont expect to get a Battleship built for you when theres a war.And to run your own station (House kinda) and take part in allainces that protect you will take a few hours a day to play if you want to know whats going on.

if your just a PVE mission runner in some minning PVE corp, then hell.you dont need to play at all if ya dont want.the npc will still be there and the minning zombies will stay say hi.

You can accomplish something in EVE in less than an hour (either do a trade run, mission, etc. ). If you feel like you have accomplishes something depends on you though. I for example didnt feel like accomplishing something with 3 or 4 hours a week in WOW. My personal feeling though.

EVE, I usually play 1 to 4 hours a day, yet I had times where I played 2 or 4 hours a week or even less.

Usually corporations understand that some people have a limited time to play EVE. Simply find yourself such a corp.

I've only played EVE for a short time (see my xfire sig, plus a few more hours when I played for about 2 weeks on the same character back in may). I have a pretty busy schedule and find myself only able to play casually. I still feel like I'm accomplishing things when I'm on. With the skill system the way it is, your always advancing too, as long as you plan out your skills well enough to be able to have them finish when you're able to get on and get another skill going. It depends on what you find fills like accomplishment. If you're looking for logging on a few hours every week and getting 10 levels of xp or 100k+ honour, that's not going to happen. The feeling of accomplishment is different from WoW, atleast for me.

I always game about 40 hours a week regardless of what games I play.  When I start with a new game I usually exceed that quite a bit ;)

Still mission running in the nub corp so it really doesn't matter how much time I spend

Eve unlike WoW doesn't have a grind for skills so you can really play as much or as little as you want and still make your mark in the Universe.

i play eve for a few hours a week (maybe 4-5)

after about 5 months on my new character starting from scratch i have a battleship, few cruisers, whole bunch (15) of t1 frigates, covert op, stealth bomber, assult ship, interceptor, and some 210 million isk... everything was earned through my own work ingame, and i've been out in 0.0 since about 3 weeks in. (and i dont mine)

Just dont get caught on the mining/mission running treadmill.

I'm enjoying the game and have fun doing all sorts of things - trade runs, courier jobs, scouting, pvp combat, ratting, complexes, missions..

Most Corps. will just let you come and go as you like, i haven't even logged into EVE for a couple of days now but i know i'll still be in the Corp. when i get back.

I change my mind all the time about what i do to make money, but right now i'm in 0.0 killing NPC's, but i'm about to give that up and do complexes with some friends again. Whatever i'm doing to make money, i'm always PvPing (as that's the only reason i play) and even after one successful good fight i'm happy enough to quit for the day... there's no other game like EVE to get your adrenaline going.

So yea, basically you can put in whatever you want, but i'd suggest you join a Corp. that does a bit of everything (PvP, Missions, NPC'ing, etc...) so you're not in constant demand... unless that's your thing.

As was already stated, Eve is the perfect game for casual player. Set your long term skill training for while you are away from the game and contuinue to train. Some skills reauire 30 days or more.  When you log on switch to short skills that you can learn while you are online, then switch back to the long training before you log off.  It's that simple, and it's the only game I know of that lets you advance while you sleep, work , whatever :)
