CD in the mail

eldareldar Member Posts: 108

Has anyone recieved their CD yet? I know its only been maybe 3 to 4 days since I recieved the message from the company letting me know they were going to ship out the cd's. I was trying to look over the boards and figure out how long it took the cd's to reach the US but it didn't seem to take that long for most people.

I am just hoping I recieve it some time this week. Ever since I closed down my FFXI account I've had nothing to do but wait for contest to end and twitle my thumbs.image

It is a BETA version, not a finished commercial game !
A lot of features are certainly not implemented yet.

And if you are REALLY in the beta, you should know that you are not allowed to talk about the game (do you remember the NDA you have agreed ?)

The BETA version is to TEST the features of the game, not to PLAY the game.

By saying that he did not break anything involving beta or breaking the NDA...by saying an opinion about the game does not matter.

Opinions ARE covered by the NDA.

  • YordoYordo Member Posts: 831

You can freely talk about your opinion in a certain game....By saying, "I don't like this".....your saying that breaks the NDA?  Doesn't make any sense to me.

You can give your opinion as you want when the game is finished.
But you cannot judge a game during its creation. For sure there are bad features because the job of the beta tester is too find them ! So it is stupid to complain about things that will be fixed for the release.

And a beta tester is never allowed to test the whole game. Only a little area is open. Some features and creatures are secrets. So how can you decently give an opinion ?

Saying words like "They are missing tons of thing" after just 1 day of a STARTING BETA TESTING of a MMORPG is plainly stupid and can give an unjustified reputation to a game.

Well, Can't remember the other NDA's I've had.. but the one I'm currently under for a game(Not Ryzom, hopeing to get in sometime though) clearly states that

"no information, pictures, -->reflections<-- relating to your taking part in the tests shall be made public, nor disclosed to third parties"

  • YordoYordo Member Posts: 831
You guys are telling me that it's against the NDA but in your posts you have several different sentences with minor opinions.

You should have thought about Freedom of speach before signing an agreement stating that you wouldn't discuss anything to do with the game. At Capcom's latest press event members of the press got to play Resident Evil 4 yet weren't allowed to post about it. I'm sure many journo's would love to write about what the experienced. But they would be slapped with a big lawsuit. They signed an agreement.

I don't think it's a big deal posting what you did and would deffinately think that they wouldn't even care much or take any action. But that guy was right, you signed an NDA, a legally binding contract. You're not technically allowed to discuss the game. Even your opinion.

We don't talk especially about Ryzom beta NDA in this thread. And for me, I can't have given any comment on the beta of Ryzom because I am NOT in.

For every NDA, if you have signed, you can be slapped with lawsuit if you break it. Read carefully and till the end what you have accepted...

The terms on their site IS the NDA rules you have signed for. And about the "will never hold water" you can check this page: http://www.fatbabies.com/fatstories.html and read the "1/29/03 Holy Lawsuits, Batman!" news. Weird and stranges things can occur in court, especially in the US.
But for sure I know that no-one will take you to the court just for a little opinion. I talk about NDA for every game, not your NDA especially.

I am very interested to hear your comment about my phrase :
"Saying words like "They are missing tons of thing" after just 1 day of a STARTING BETA TESTING of a MMORPG is not a wise comment and can give an unjustified reputation to a game."

PS : I changed some words that I thought afterward were too offending (sorry, my first language is french).

yes strange things can happen in court like someone breaking into yourself and hurting their hand in the process, then they sue you and win, lets face it we lived in a crazy world

    atleast in american court,
oh and an NDA holds lotsa ground in a court case, a whole lot.
even if its electronic, you can get into huge.. crap

What what i heard the beta 2 phase 2 dont sign the electronic NDA until feb 20.

after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

  • numaticnumatic Member UncommonPosts: 675

The game is in OPEN beta in the UK. You can talk about it as much as you like.

  • FozzikFozzik Member UncommonPosts: 539

    Newsflash!!

Numatic, hate to break this to you, but you are confused. I suppose you are referring to Jolt online's Offer... this offer is for "open application". This means that anyone can apply. This is not the same thing as an Open Beta. Ryzom's beta, regardless of how you get in, is still very much covered by the NDA. Anyone who wishes to can try this out: Try applying for the beta on any site you want... and don't agree to the NDA. I bet you won't be able to even fill out the application.
