So are you really saying you think the game looks like a pile of vomit?

If you mean great, amazing, awesome - say that and dont assume that everyone else in the world uses the Australian English slang: of sick being awesome, good.

And the only info we have on release date is they are aiming for sometime in 2007.

He wouldn't be inquiring about the release date if he thought the game was bad.

I'm drawing a blank on why the abbreviation HJ is bad. Admittedly I'm not always up to date on current or past events. (I hate the news.)

Aside from that. We announced at E3 we were looking at an end of year beta with that determining our final release date sometimes mid 2007. Exact dates won't be set for a little while.

Well the only negative connotation of HJ I can think of starts with the word "hand"
  • _Shadowmage_Shadowmage Member Posts: 1,459

Which if you apply that connotation does really intersting things to the game masters names ::::04::

A quick google search reveals HEINZ as the number one thing related to HJ and Heroes Journey comes in number 12.

So does this imply the Heroes Journey is like a good meal of baked beans?

  • KuzzleKuzzle Member Posts: 1,058
I didn't know HEINZ made anything but ketchup... Also, I'm at a loss as to how anything like a "good meal" could involve baked beans.  My personal tastes aside, I don't know that that , er, "hand thing" is frequently abbreviated. Still, it was the first thing that came to mind when I read your post. Been foillowing this game for quite a while now, though, and I never thought that. Won't really bother me, I guess. I mean, it's not like it's called "Blademaster's Journey," or anything... I dunno, couldn't think of anything else that started with a 'B'.

A lot of other games try to give you the HJ experience. But I think if you wait and be patient. There is no substitue than waiting for true HJ to come.

  • _Shadowmage_Shadowmage Member Posts: 1,459

lol - since we are discussing possible other connotations for H.J that was very amusing.

"Sick" is a common slang word in the united states. The vast majority of people on this site, being from the united states, either know it or can figure it out contextually. I think it's a little odd you're insisting it not be used when so much other slang is used commonly all over these forums.

    Thanks for the unnecessary bump.

Hmmm - I was going to refute your statement that the majority of posters on these boards are from the U.S. So I checked everyone in this threads user info.

Its sad but true, only one other poster besides me is not from the U.S. And that poster is from your 52nd state (Canada) :)

I find that if people state clearly what they mean there is less room for misunderstanding.

There is also that old saying if you assume people know what you mean you make an ASS out of U and ME.

So what can I say - its one of my pet hates, along with
    - The stupid American date format,

    - Sites putting a $ on price and assuming everyone knows what currency they mean. I know at least 4 countries that use a $ for their currency symbol.

    - Game companies who quote seasons for delivery which makes it hard for people in the Southern Hemisphere to work out when they mean. For heavens sake say January to March if thats when you mean.

So yes a little clarity goes a long way.

meh sick is just one of those words that alot of people (NAs also) hate, but get over it, its an online forum and i dont correct every post that confuses "good" with "well"

Canada is certainly NOT our 52nd state.

It is a refuge many of us plan on fleeing to when Bush declares himself Emporer.

First of all, my post was tongue-in-cheek. I'm sorry if you cannot accept that people have a sense of humor, or have trouble detecting obvious sarcasm. Secondly, please spare me your demands. You obviously have your own forums, so please retreat there if you do not like what I post here.

Thirdly, all you foreign people don't get to play HJ. We are keeping it for ourselves. I asked Emperor Bush, and he said it was ok, so there. image

No it has nothing to do with clarity. If he said "this game looks cool," " bloody brilliant," or some other slang you know, you wouldn't ask for clarity. He was just using slang you didn't know. A pet hate of mine is when people tell other people to not assume. It's total bs (slang for an untruth). When you use the slang you know, you're implicitly assuming that people will know what you're talking about. For instance, "pet hates" isn't used where I come from, but I figured it out contextually, and unless you intended on people not understanding it, you used it based on the ASSUMPTION that people would understand it. I'm sorry you seem to dislike so many things about the U.S.

Hrmm ... wasnt the line of conversations I was expecting on the normally civil Hj forum. Anycase I sure hope I see some info on HJ soon. The end of the year is coming up soon and I'll be heading to a bunch of other mmorpgs soon with the winter season coming. Mite be wise for Simutronics to make one last big attempt to advertise and inform people about there game to tide people over winter.

Those are wise words, I for one have taken a much deeper look at Vanguard than I had intended to due to a lack of info here.

Indeed, i must agree with Techleo and Elias, yet i will admit i have played vanguard and it is not anyhting in comparison to even a screenshot of HJ so i wouldn't waste too much time looking into vg. Yet, not even here, i wish there was more info and media added to the play.net HJ site, at least once a week would suffice but alas we are not yet quite at the point where that is possible... but what do i know anyways.

I too have spent too much time of late checking out Vanguard. I've just now today found out about Hero's Journey due to having to want to have a look at the engine that Bioware has licensed for their super secret MMO and decided to see want was available here at mmorpg.com about HJ. The pictures look smoking hot. They don't seem to have that plastic look that I've seen in EQ2 and Vanguard pics and yet are detailed.
