What's with all the necro'ing of old posts?

Is it just me or have there been a lot of necro'ing of old posts lately? Mainly by jonaku and vendris. Just curious why they decided to dig up threads 3-6 months old to reply to?

Theres actually a company that will hire people to post negative or positive stuff on message boards across the internet. If you look at yahoo movie reviews, most of the first user reviews are posted by these people either hyping the movie or trashing it. I have a feeling this practice is spilling over into the video game industry. It's a highly competitive field.

When it comes to games like dark and light its easy to see they'll fail. But when you have people like McQuaid behind a game you know most of the negative comments are BS. Anyone who has any experience with Verant games knows exactly what this game will be like. We know there will be bugs at release some of which will get fixed quickly and other will be forgotten in the pursuit of new content. The game will be playable but not casual friendly. You'll be able to solo, craft and raid. It will be step ahead but wont be groundbreaking.

I seriously think jonaku needs some mental help. He seems obsessed with hating this game. I don't even understand the people obsessed with loving it but to spend your time obsessed with taking digs at a video game is just mental retardation at its finest.

I don't even know much about the game. (I'm waiting for WAR) and these haters are really getting annoying. I was curious about this game, but now I can't even get any information because of those idiots.

I keep telling everyone that these boards have taken a serious turn for the worse. I think it really started back before WoW and EQ2 when all the WoW vs EQ2 posts were being made and has just steadily gotten worse. Probably has to do with the popularity of the site. Unfortunately, along with the web site fame comes the web forum trolls.

i agree but also think the mods need to take alot of the blame for it as well.

Maybe it is because there isn't a lot of traffic in here. Post-SOE agreement there hasn't been much to talk about other than the agreement itself. I think it is appropriate for posters to reply to an old thread rather than creating a new one. Assuming their post is on topic, and the topic is still relevant, I really don't see the problem with it.

Perhaps the guys at Sigil and SOE should have made a bigger media push at E3, then we would have something else to talk about. I think that if they believe they are making a solid game, the best way they could turn around the negative sentiment following the SOE deal would be to start showing us some proof. How about some screenshots and movies.. a little more in depth info on the games features.... anything positive for people to talk about at all.

Actually, there has been lots of news and tons of new screen shots. I have seen posts about some of that, but they have been pushed down by all the necro posting by a few forum trolls.

I personally hope they get banned that way people with reasonable oppinions other then "this game sucks so hard cause its not tailored to me" will be heard. Cause I really wanna know and hear the objective oppinions of those that played the game.

you're why the vanguard community is so hated. everytime anyone posts any criticism of the game on the vanguard forums, they're told they should go play wow and then they start asking the mods to ban/delete/lock the offending post. no wonder everyone hates them !

I agree with you on replying to an old post as well -- IF it's still relevant. But old news like "FOH Forums: Another lead designer leaves Sigil" or "More Troubling News about Vanguard" Both are about the same thing AND old news.

Except not. But thanks for trying. You just obviously want to be an ass for no good reason. Anything I read from you is how this game sucks beyound all end, and thinks anyone that might be intrusted in the game should be shot. If you could actually voice out without striking at someone why you think the game will fail then please do so. Other wise don't jump to these random conclusion. One of my friends was intrusted in the game so I wanted to see why he was. You are the one that is on the attack for someone that just wants to look into the game to see why someone wants to play it. They made a big media push during E3, just all over the media, and not just MMORPG.com. The Truth is out there...

All it ever is anymore is Vanguard haters coming to the forums and saying why Vanguard copied Wow or how Vanguard is just like EQ2 blah blah blah. It's that kind of shit that gets people started. So if I were you i'd just never come back to this board, you need to get venture out on hating a game so much and maybe worry about other things that probably need more attention than this.

I agree 100% there. I also agree any negative comments about Vanguard are met with unreasoning scathing attack because these guys lives are so empty they need Vanguard to fill the tedium.

Vanguard players need to be schooled in a very important lesson, bashing WoW will get 1000's of posts because "DUH" there are zillions of more players then your puny little game. I think this game will be delayed to the point that it comes out after Age of Conan and Warhammer. The people clinging to now it because they don't have a game to play will all be busy with other games by the time this launches... and I really expect it to look old and tired compared the other games coming out over the next year.

Someone mentioned flying mounts... Dark and Light has flying mounts.... so I really wouldn't use that as an example of how on the ball they are. If your point was that this game will be about as good as DnL... then I agree.

What is more sad? Being the fan of a game and hoping it succeeeds? Or living just to bash a game and hoping it fails. You kinda have to take pity on those who live life with no hope and such a negative outlook on life that they have nothing better to do than go from board to board bashing a game they have no intentions of playing and hoping for it to fail. Oh, but I do think that most peoples bashing Vanguard are still hoping for something. I don't waste my time bashing WoW, simply because I have no faith in Blizzard. They repeat all the worst mistakes from previous games and some good things as well, with no innovation.

Agreed that I reduce my interest in talking about Vanguard a LOT since BioWare announced their MMO, but there are no forum about BioWare atm! Did I lost all hopes in Vanguard? Not all...most of it, but not all. That is why I still give the game some interest.
