SOE Block Party!
We're having a get-together during the San Diego ComicCon at our offices nearby.
There
will be game demos (including an upcoming PS3 title, I think) building
tours, and other fun, such as a dunk tank. I have been notified that
Grant "Rogue 5" McDaniel is signed up to be a target in the dunk tank.
There. I said it out loud, Now he can't back out.
I'll be there too if you want to talk about events.
All I can say is they are INSANE. They don't have a happy player base. They have a highly pissed OFF player base...

BTW - does anyone else have this strange feeling like something huge is about to happen in this game?
I've said it before but the Devs have not been themselve lately. I would know - i do a lot of lurking there.
there was enough bitching on the SWG foprums that swgmod0001 stated thay placed his posts back in the archive section.. he didnt go into any other detail though... Ive been checking some of the main news sites and no one has said anything about his being fired, transfered etc...
Having access to a billion $ IP - Billions of dollars..

Seriously that would be the biggest punch in the gut to the Vets. I am concerned for the dev's safety already, much less making an announcement like that.
Nah, probably the DC Online game, to tie it in with the Comic Con.
Odds are Smedley was fired a few weeks ago or a month or so, and the new guy is finally up to speed on the whole SWG deal and how its pissed on their company. Hince he wants pre-cu up and running pronto.

Let me guess how this "SOE block party" goes. You (the customer) pay to get there and pay an entrance fee, once there you have to bring a keg of expensive beer for the "SOE team". You (the customer) get to drink 1.32 cups of ginger ale and listen to a speech by a drunken galactic senator (drunk on the beer you brought).
The Speech consists of various insults directed towards your questionable parentage and lack of education, finishing off with a five minute rant about "douchebags" that want a classic server. After the speech "special gifts" are handed out to those who just arrived and missed the speech, these customers are also only required to bring a six pack of cheap imported ale.
After the gifts are given out Smedley appears from the shadows and tells you all how "every single one of you is a valued customer" and that they "always listen to your suggestions". Smedley then disaappears into the shadows chuckling to himself and trying to keep a straight face.
Then to finish the "Block party" all the DEVS line up on the stage infront of the audience and sing "Oops I did it again" by Britney Spears then they projectile vomit over the crowd and hope to see you next year if the servers haven't been shutdown.

Party!
Come join us for the first-ever SOE Block Party! This community
event will be held during the 2006 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July
22 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Even if you’re not attending Comic-Con
this year, stop by the Block Party, anyway!
The Block Party will also feature guided tours of the SOE
buildings, prize raffles, food, drinks and other assorted goodies. There
will also be SOE game demos, including a sneak peak at the upcoming PlayStation®3
title, Untold
Legends: Dark Kingdom!
Come and meet SOE dev team members and staff—you may
even get a chance to drop them in the dunk tank! You’ll also have
the opportunity to meet acclaimed fantasy author R.A. Salvatore along
with comic writer and The
Matrix Online storyteller, Paul Chadwick.
Busses will shuttle attendees from the San Diego Convention
Center from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM (Look for the SOE signs near section
B of the Convention Center). Return trips to the Convention Center will
be running every half hour until 7:00 PM. For those of you coming on your
own, we highly recommend carpooling, as parking will be limited.

Well I am sure that they will all have a really good time at the block party, parties are always fun, and I am sure that anyone who goes will have a nice time too. Thank you for your time.

Hmmmm....I had this weird idea
Get a bunch of 501'st stormtroopers, a barrel(or bigger) of tar(or any oily sticky liquid), and a shitload of feathers.
Then we setup not far from the "block"...We have the 501'st troopers march into the partay, "aprehend(kidnap really)" the major SWG devs there. March them out to where we setup, and basicly dump em in the tar and feather em.
Once all have been treated, we march them back to the partay..then we run like kids who just went cow tipping.
Oh, and we would need some press people there too.
Now that would ahve been sumtin...really sumtin.
