Should i try it or play it? - Questions answered - review-

You cant judge this game to the fullest until about level 55-60ish. Just like WoW or many games, you cant play and say wow this game is horrible before you even experience the core parts of the game. This would be like getting level 55 on WoW and saying this game sucks, without experiencing PvP or end game raids.
Is this game right for you?
Lineage II has many positives, i have played WoW to rank 14 pvper, obtained tier 2 set. And have returned to Lineage II twice for time spans of 3-12 months, the game just ALWAYS has something to do. Yes its leveling, but at least it is a common goal between everyone, there is no down time between raids you can start small groups, to large groups going to a variety of areas. I wont lie, the game sucks until a decent level, once you become apart of politics, castles, clan wars this is where the game becomes good. The no instances and open pvp gives the game its number one trait, the pvp aspect. Clans have to fight over raid bosses, groups fight over hunting spots. Clan wars begin over a simple hunting spot. Territories and areas are slowly given to one side of an alliance or one power, because if enemies enter this area it is full of allied members waiting to fight them. The games pvp aspect is amazing, politics poltics politics.
Positives
Bottom line, great game, great politics(this adds to the game entirely) great graphics, good grind(Yes the grind is fun, becomes repetative but sitting on vent/TS with clannies or just chatting in group can earn you a few nice friends in your time. Community on third party fourms really brings the game to the best, gives a place to find people for clans, trade, people with common interest and at best trash talking.
New chronicles are released every few months, adding new content, things to do, and fixes towards the game, problems in classes being over powered ect. These arent just mini updates, they are Major.

The game has really evolved, giving new players and old players something to do.
Negatives
Bad part, grind. Also a positive, but can be considered boring at time, and tedious, but with a good clan and friends talking on teamspeak/ventrilo or just joking around can really be a good time.
Gear, sadly the gear is hard to obtain in this game, top armour sets costing towards 220million for the whole set.( Able to wear around level 61) B grade (52) 15m for the whole set C grade (5m) Most people resort to eBaying, but its not as needed as some see. When you first begin the game maybe a 10$ investment on adena will help you, and is all you need to spend for ever. Towards level 60-70 you can make 2-10million a day, sometimes much more. This add's up slowly contributing to your new armour or weapon, and really gives you something to dream for and desire.
Farmers, yes there are quite a bit of farmers on account of gear being so hard to find. But they arent all bad, farmers do what players dont want to do, farm small drop rate items, materials, and recipes and sell them, yes they control these prices but they keep them at a price obtainable by players and really do the dirty work no one else wants to do =P
BUT farmers, most servers fight farmers, kill them, pk them, train them, cause hell for farmers really making there job harder, and ussually quite fun for players to do this.
Review on this site what it misses out on
The reviews talk about community being poor, but i have played WoW, DAOC,AC many other games and L2 community is by far the best.

When ever something in game happens, clan wars ect. They are widely talked about on the fourms adding a sense of drama, trash talking and most wars have began from the fourms them selves. More importantly because the game is political in a sense clans, who you fight, castles you take. The communtiy is a major part, and these fourms add to this greatly. I feel the reviewer didnt even know of these websites and are about 30% of the game, giving the trash talk and the political decisions made on the fourm.
Farmers/Bots, the game has farmers and botters because of the difficult grind. They have been known to kill raid bosses but most often are confronted with a large fight with them loosing, they hunt in remote areas most dont EXP at so they are really out of sight out of mind.
They have been making the grind much easier, Around Chronicle 1/2 It would take on average close to a month to get level 40, now it is quite easy to make this in 1 week. The grind has gotten much easier, and allowing you to do much more with leveling (Sub classes ect.)

Give the game a try, and post on one of the fan sites posted above you are starting ask for some help, plenty of people will buff you and help you out with some money.
gratz on reaching rank 14 in wow, i read articles about people who had they lives ruined just to try and reach that rank!
but about the lineage2 comminuty im not sure how to jugde it either bad or good as they is many problems like online friend`s or clan member´s stealing gear from each other ruining they friendships even if they known each other for a long time..
i also think they´s being build up a lot off hate between warring clan´s since the exp losses are so high if you keep dying every day, i often fought other´s that bring untaggeds to give you full % losses, or they petion you when you sware so you can be banned (first strike 72 hours second strike pernament banned)
and a few will try and train you for gear witch isent funny considering a A grade helm cost´s 200m gl affording it and if you drop it...
then they´s all the cheating, ebayers botter´s and powerlvling user´s off real player´s witch goes under the coomminuty to, and all the farmer´s
i guess the comminuty sucks a bit much, the clan friendships are good but it´s risky to borrow out gear to clan members even if you known em for a long time
The hate between players and clans builds the best part of the clan, old clans dont ally each other nor like each other for ussually along time, single players still create friendships ect. Talking about stealing gear ect, happens in every game people dont have morals in all games. Your comments are so broad and can be explained for every game, bots, farmers are all in EVERY mmorpg that requires time. Next time use something not as broad statements.
The friendships and relationships gained from the game can last years and so have some of mine, talking on teamspeak or ventrilo for hours well levleing is fun times. The hate between clans and players last time, i still have some old people i wared 12 months ago but iam friendly to some, its a small real life think of it as the world, super powers allies, backstabbing all for power.
All your statements are just so broad, people stealing gear and money? That happens in all games. Training and pking? This is part of the PvP game and is what makes the game the best.

I'm surprised to see you writing so harsh like this. You helped me out once with a piece of dropped gear and I never forgot and would return the favor in a heartbeat

I gave a guy back his D grade shield who tried to jump me...and died lol. I could have kept it but why?
Yes, there are tons of dirty dogs, I guess you and me are the exceptions lol. I just don't care enough about a video game to get people all pissed off I guess. I know what its like to have to make your money and get your gear the hard way. (buying and selling, working the market)
You also need to remember, I have been playing MMO's for a long time and by far L2 is not the only one that has asshats and scammers. I'll never forget my first experience in Asheron's Call when, like a noob, I let someone "checkout" my weapon and never saw it again. This was back in the AC prime when there where tons of people. I was like WTF was that about? My "patron" (there is a patron system in AC) set me up with a new weapon and gave the "never give your stuff to anyone" speech........ah those where the days........(*sigh*) If I miss any game, its AC back in the day. That was a great game in its prime.

I started playing Lineage 2 from around Close Beta, to the first expansion. We began in Lineage 1 , played it for 2 and half years , great people, but Lineage the worst part is the drops and adena. In the beginning it wasnt so bad, because I loved the dwarf , (made a female one) spoiling and farming materials for our crafters. Then when you got into the higher levels , the drops got worse , it became so bad , that veterans from Lineage 1 beta (Korea) begin to do some things and then quit after the drama.
I came back from time to time, made a Paladin , 2 dwarves (crafter and bounty hunter) , and a Dark Elf summoner. But it was just so damn hard to make a living. I got to the point at the end of my account last month, I was making brig shields , and farming the helmet designs as a job , not as part of having fun.
Some of the orginal clan that has stayed since Closed beta have 2nd and third characters just to farm the bots , because they drop better than the mobs. If they improved the drop rate the game would be so much.
I love the addition they did for the new dugeons , the Dusk thing, and they had some great events , like the pumpkin event. But even with 120 million after the pumpkin event , I couldnt afford my new grade of armor, on Gustin.
