KiamdeKiamde Member CommonPosts: 5,820

Pent 4 2.21 Ghz

512 MB of RAM

Nvidia Nforce 3

365k connection

So, will my machine be able to run EQII?

Here are the minimum requirements, so yeah your rig will be fine. I would probably pump up the ram to 1 gig though.

    Processor: 1GHZ or greater

    Ram: 512 MB

Video Card: DX 9 compatible with 64 MB

Sound Card: Direct sound compatible audio hardware

So no lag or memory leaks or anything?

The min. requirements are just that, MIN. just cos you can load the game up on to your PC dont mean it will be worth playing. Those requirements are near to useless if you ask me.

I guess you will be needing something like a geforce4 128MB a P4 2.5+ with a gig of ram if you want to run it smoothly. Altho that still wont allow you to have even half the graphic effects turned on/up. The game engine is made to last a few years at least. They build it to last and use the up and coming technology. So get the best you can and live with it.

Its going to be sad for those that have to upgrade their computer.  Many of the new games coming out seem to have such high requirements, and anything  that is under P4 2.0  seems to be almost gone now.  I think its awefull for those that can't upgrade.

    kiamde in one word

    NO

dude, ur video card is a 3 class...u need atleast a geforce 5200 fx..which is still a sucky card

or i think the 9200 cuts it also, but any card above that (in the fx series, or in the radeon series) will do.

my radeon 9800 xt 256 is gonna give me the power to pwn eqii and everyone in it

image  it's ok kiamde...ur on my "friends" list

    lol

The thing I'm confused about is this.  You talk about Pentium 4 2.21Ghz, but you have a nForce3 motherboard which is AMD.  Are you getting AMD or Intel?

Once you've gotten this down, we can help you out.

    News flash! Bucko.

People care as much for your pesimistic opinion as you do about poverty.  So quit posting pointless messages critisizing people for not buying a luxury item because they can't afford it and just answer the question the post was for you mad little man.

Everyone should stop worrying about the requirements and get a good system that you can afford.  You don't need to pump up the entire system to have a good time in EQ2.  Ya, the requirements are high, but it will be worth it. Get a system around these specs in my opinion.

    P4 2.6 GHz

    512 MB RAM

    128 MB Graphics Card

These specs will allow you to run the game at medium settings which will still look incredible :)

    1. By the time EQ2 retails the Prescot cpu (1MB cache memory) and PCI Express (X16agp) gpu should be out, though at a price premium ($600 - 800 cpu, $400 - 600 gpu.)
    2. atm the P4 2.8C (800MHz [ 200 X4]) cpu is only about $170 and will be a fine intel type cpu for gaming into the next 2 years. By which time the 5 & 8 GHz cpu should be out there. But the athlon 64 cpu seem to outperform the intel for gaming, esp with Radeom 9800pro gpu. And the A64 will be a different type motherboard (nforce3.)
    3. The 2001 GF3 gpu (Ti 200 & 500) are $60 to 90, good luck finding a Ti 500. DEFINATLY avoid the MX series GF !! And the GF3 are kinda low on the bandwidth (6 to 8GB/s) also low in the multi texture (gaming eye candy) fill rate (1.4Gt.) in comparison the $90-130 2002 GF4 are 8 to 10GB/s bandwidth and slightly beter 2.2Gt. The FX5200 is a step down in performance (6GB/s $ 0.4Gt), the $300 2003 FX 5900 (27GB/s and 3.2 Gt) are comparable to the Radeons. But the $230 2003 Radeon 9800pro (22GB/s and 3Gt) is a more or less standard in modern DX9 gaming.
    4. Key to EQ2 will be the Direct sound required card, especially with the group-voice in game and voice controlled gameplay option planed. (man, voice is a wierd looking word compared to vocal, had to make sure that is how one spells voice.) Voice recognition will be a key feature in the next MS op system!

So wait, your saying that even though i run a 2.6GHz - Radeon 9000 - 1gb RAM system, my Avance On-Board Audio will slow down my game?

Boy, i have played so many games. Want an opinion on any major game? PM me.

Your rig of course will run it but i mainly say upgrade ram a bit. Even though they are minimum requirements its better to have above in order to play normally. With EQII graphics the way they are and tons of people playing not sure if 512 can take. Even in EQI if you go to the bazaar it lags barely but I recommend 1gig ram because its like best for MMORPG so far on the MMORPG gaming.

I want to cast magic missle.

While I agree with you in some regards I do have to disagree with the 5200fx statement.  I think EQ2 will run fine with a G5200 fx

    I highly doubt it

A lower quality sound card will never slow down the gameplay of a game.  All it will do is make some sound effects be a little less quality...it won't cause more lag or anything.
