MMOG DO-OVER

I've always wanted developers to redo some of my favorite games...you know, spuce them up with the latest and greatest engines, AI, chat tech, etc...

My do-over would have to be Anarchy Online (and all the expansions)! I would love to see this game with either the 64-bit Unreal Engine 3 or the Cryengine 2 core.

What's your do-over?

I wanted to see EQ get a do-over...and well, they updated the models with the luclin expansion(2001 though lol) and are slowly updating the graphics in the old zones of the game. So I guess I am sort of getting what I want right?

EDIT: How did I become an elite member? I think I just post too often hehe.

I would love to see an updated version of UO. UO is still one of the best MMORPGs in my opinion.

I feel kinda weird for saying this, but... The Realm. I was fairly young when I played it, but I played the game for 3 years, which is far more than I can say for any other MMO. The community in that game was awesome and for some reason I really dig instanced combat in an MMO (when players were in combat outsiders would only see a cartoonish combat cloud, and the combat was turn based like oldschool console RPGs.). That said I'd love to see another MMO do instanced combat, although I'm probably alone or part of a rare breed in that aspect

    Shadowbane, for sure

Just some WASD movement, a couple tweaks of the clunky (yet flexible compared to even the most modern games) interface, and the Morrowind graphics have to change :D

Yeah,. even though that game is PvP centered, it still has some of the most fast paced PvE out there, and witht those tweaks it'd have the best, bar none.

Have to agree with the OP.. AO all the way. Although the Lost Eden looks really pretty (we have no in-game shots yet, but the concepts are nice ::::18::)

I'd probably have to say astonia, after that daoc with the same graphics but with a updated combat engine/skill system.

Anarchy-online for sure.   that crappy engine is ugly and everyone still have low fps.

Yeah, Lost Eden has the mechs, space stations, calling in air strikes...pretty cool!

OMG, Funcom could make a massive fortune from an Anarchy Online do-over...

That's mine as well. It wasn't my first MMO, but it was certainly the best fit for my playstyle of any I've played since. I'd love to see a revitalized game based on the skill systems, portals, lore, and open-landscaped world I called home for far longer than any other MMO. And no #%^@*ing Decal this time, dangit!

Even if its was full of bugs, exploits, content lacking, mission boredom and powerleveling.. i loved Earth and Beyond wich was made, at first, by Westwood (Command & Conquer) then a new dev team took their place and fucked up. Curse EA who closed the game, *$%&!!!

i like AO, i did play it at the very begining but the main City were REALLY laggy then i got bored chaining missions

AC2 +EQ. EQ needs updating to the 21st century, its graphics look so old now. And AC2 just needed some npcs, and some purpose, endgame and some decent group dynamics.

I agree Anarchy Online could be vastly improved by just upgrading and fixing the graphics engine. I don't mind the graphics but the performance is really bad for the quality.

i dont know why people are saying EVE but there is one thing i would like to see in eve , instead of being the ship , we should have a human form , the possibility to walk inside the ships , invite people to your ships etc.

about do over , even i didnt play swg before cu , i would like to see a game like that , from what i have eard and lissen about the game.

    why ?

becose it was so big and complex

That is the very reason I quit EVE after only a few weeks. somehow it's just not very appealing to be a spaceship.

oh I love Eve.. thats the reason Id like to see a do-over of it

im not saying it NEEDS to be re-done.. but I could think of a half dozen or so things to add to the game that would make it more enjoyable.  such as making frigates quicker and more manueverable by a very large margin, and scaling the other ships to this also.  also planetery exploration via vehicles like rovers etc and possibly robotics (not saying getting out of the ship and exploring).  a way to habitat a planet also

ya i know, eve vets would hate every aspect of this :P

and Ultima Online, also loved that game.  But its far past time it gets a face lift and put into the 3d world.
