Warhammer Online

What does everyone think about EA taking over Warhammer Online? I don't know if they're going to mess it up or not. They've created a few good games but mostly bad. I was looking forward to this game, now i'm not so sure.

Only the fanboi's that are blind to EA's past are happy about it.  Those of us that have been in an EA published MMO know to be very weary of Warhammer now.

or maybe they just realise that EA's past is of many years ago, that EA most likely has a diffrent staff now, that the news announcement clearly states that nothing will change, and that Mythic now actually has a lot of back up.

I am going to keep an open mind with WAR.  That being said, I am definitely going to wait a few months before picking it up.

I'm not a fan of EA but that wont stop me from bying Warhammer.

It may stop me from subscribing if EA interfere enough to screw the game up but that remains to be seen.

    IMO

I'm a big Dawn of War player, and even played some of the board game 40k

So' I"ll have to try this Online WAR , just to see how they do it.  THQ has done an awesome job on DoW, Winter Assault, ect.

So i hope they (mythic,ea) dont screw warhammer up :(

I like warhammer, I think it's a good idea to make an mmo for warhammer. But i case you havn't heard from the creater...he has claimed that WoW is he's favorite mmo and personal I don't want to play another wow clone. how can i tell it's a wow clone? if you look at warhammer online before it waz gimped by WoW lovers that the graphics
drop down so low down to  crappy wow graphics
so..you shouldn't worry about ea they tend to make ok games (not including sports games) it's the patches that i would have some worry about yet it's doesn't matter cuase it's a wow clone.

    Prove it.

No point in asking idiots like this to prove it.  If they had even tried to find any info on the way character advancement is planned they woiuldn't even bother to make the statement.

The guy you're talking about is head of PUBLISHING.

He has nothing to do with the design.  And his words were taken out of context.  He said WoW was his CURRENT favorite.

Games Workshop, the 800 pound gorilla of the three P's (paper, pen, and pewter) will not allow EA, or Mythic for that matter, to mess this up.

Games Workshop got owned by Blizzard.

They rejected publishing Warcraft: Orcs and Humans when it was first created.

    Good going noobs.

Will the gameplay resemble WoW?  Possibly.  But here are the differences:

Warhammer has 20 years of highly developed lore that they take very seriously, and keeps developing it from the original works of Priestley, Halliwell, and Ansel through to today.  They already have a good understanding of what Orcs are, what Elves are, what the Empire is about, and what Chaos is about.  They also know what they are not.  Blizzard makes up its lore as it goes along, and compromises it whenever they feel the need to do so.  So while we may see a similar WoW style game, I venture to say it will be a much more immersive, and much more detailed WoW.

What made Warhammer and Games Workshop the phenomenon that it is rests in the astounding use of imagery, and the high quality of the components.  This is how they were able to separate themselves from those like TSR, and Steve Jackson back in the 80s.  You might be able to blame GW for many things, but bad imagery is not one of them.  That is why this game, if nothing else, is going to be stunning in its presentation.  It cannot be Warhammer if it doesn't look likie Warhammer.
