But this answer is subjective so it may be different if you ask it to another player...
Well...when I bought it,many of my (WoW addicted) friends told me it wasn't worth it...but I bought it and I think I was right to do so... lol What makes it really great is that the gameplay is different from most MMORPGs I had tried...
I found WoW very uninteresting. I played to 43 soloing the whole time. Grouping was annoying because of the crap community. I think im gonna give this game a go what server is a good one to play on? should I buy the expansion too?
Server - no need to choose. While the game is divided into regions (USA, Europe, Korea, Taiwan, Japan I think) anyone can play with anyone around the world via the international districts. GW's not split up into shards or anything.
Expansion - you're probably best getting Prophencies first IMO, if you're unsure.
yes profecies first , but get factions too if you can right now.
as for grouping , guildwars is not heaven , becose there is no such thing on hearth , but i advise you to not judge all groups from the bad experiences , keep trying , get in pugs all the time , start groups if you cant join any , the mood of the group many times depend on leader.
over all i have very good times grouping with random people , one of the things i love guildwars , for being so much team based , i can group with lots of unknown people everyday.
If you start with Factions, you're going to find the levelling via quests very fast, but the mission progression very difficult. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that Factions is the game made for everyone who's taken a couple of avatars all the way through Prophecies.
Prophecies has a slower levelling speed (still way faster than other MMOs, though), but the quests and missions - especially near the end of the game - are significantly easier than Factions, IMHO.
If you're new to the game, start with Prophecies then add Factions when you're comfortable with the way the game works. If you start the other way, you may find yourself both frustrated and disappointed.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I went with factions because its the newest and has two more jobs. It might have higher learning curve but any decent gamer can adjust. How bout some character names so I can know some people
It should only happen the first time you enter a new area. It will of course happen again if the area is updated with new features.
I've never been in a group that's refused to wait for someone who is still loading, so don't worry about that.
If you bought a key online and did not install from CD then leave the game running at the login screen overnight, or during the day while at school or work. It will prefetch the remaining areas then. (it won't decompress them at the time, will decompress when you first enter them)
This probably seems really awkward at first, but the benefit is that you never, ever load the game only to find that you need to sit for between 5 mins to two hours downloading and installing the new patch.
