Everquest 2 is a pretty good game its self, its the community that is my only complaint. The graphics on the game are great, the depth of the quest allways give you someting new to do, and yes...you do have a sense of accomplishment when you finish something.
For lower lvls it can be a very lonley place...most players on all servers now are at "end game" so be prepaired to solo alot up to your mid 30's.
If you join an active guild on a high population server, you might find your experiance to be alot better. Most everyone in the game plays alts, so if your in a decent sized guild you might not have the "solo" problem most new players face when jumping into a MMO this late after launch.
As far as the EQ2 vs WoW...not much i can really say here. I only played WoW for a few weeks and was bored stupid and felt i wasted 2 weeks of my life. I do know that the UI in EQ2 is completly customizable...way more so than what i saw of WoW. Other things i liked about EQ2 was that it seemed more "user friendly" than wow. For example..."maybe im a tard"...but i couldnt figure out how to set the loot to grp...or figure out how to chat in a /ooc channel...where in EQ2 these things are very simple to figure out.

my friend is going to start when i do too so we can level together
i cant deside between conjour/necromancer or wizard
well...wizzys you can play either good or bad alignment. The conj and necro are pretty much the same "in terms of being summoners" but one is good and the other is evil. The real thing you should ask yourself here is do you want to be evil alignment, or good? then pick necro or conj based off of that.
I cant speak much for a conj, as i have never played one. But i do have a 57 necro on crushbone and he is the most enjoyable toon i have ever played. While in group, your dps is decent enough to hold your own, you can rez people, you can life tap & then heal group members, you can Fein Death, and best of all when you cant find a group, necros are one of the few classes that can auctualy solo!

im going to be evil
i think my friend said he was going to be an assassin
Well, i have never played a wizzy, but from what i see of them they are a fire / ice casting class. They also do have some utility tools such as an evac, and i know their high end nukes hit pretty hard. Other than that, not much else i can say about a wizzy class.

ok
anyone out there play one???
how does the classes work i saw that it broke down as you leveled like mage to sorcorer, summoner, or (froget third) then summoner to conjour or necromancer

3days!!!! till comp is here
I have 34 Wizard that I love to play, but he got shelved because I like my Ranger more. Basically, the class is damage damage and more damage. They cast elemental damage, as opposed to poison and disease from Warlocks. Also, where Warlocks cast many AE spells, with fewer DD (Direct Damage) spells, Wizards have more DD spells and fewer AE. They're a very fun class, but they're much better in groups than solo. Since they can't take hits very well, you rely almost entirely on your roots when you solo, so if they break you may be screwed.
As for the archetype system (Mage -> Sorcerer -> Wizard type thing), that's no longer in the game. They took that out several months ago. You now start as your final class, and choose it when you are initially making your character.
Schutzbar - Human Warrior - Windrunner Alliance - World of Warcraft Nihilanth - Kerra Paladin - Blackburrow - EverQuest II XBL Gamertag - Eagle15GT
Yeah.. If you want to survive like everyone else then choose a PvP server, umm you better level a STEALTH CLASS. EQ2 PvP servers are just filled with them and there is GANKING GALORE on all them.
Dirges, Troubador, Rangers, Assassins, Swashbucklers, Brigand (Umm did I miss any?) LOL Anyways, all of them got the Stealth ability and believe me, they use it. Between Stealthing and Tracking the damn EQ2 PvP server is nothing but a Stealth Fest Nightmare. And check this out, even when you got a MOUNT the damn things stealths as well (if you chose either of them classes).
If you dont decide you want to go a Scout class then you better pick either a Monk (Qeynos), Bruiser (Freeporter) or the Berserker (Duel Wielder with Plate Mail)
The EASY button on EQ2 PvP servers is rolling EVIL instead of good. Apparently there is a slight difference in some classes and it seems that EVIL Side got more OFFENSIVE Damage than GOOD Side has alot more DEFENSE traits.
Plus on the VOX server, the good side is outnumbered 2 to 1.
I rolled a Monk, and got him leveled on a PvP server (Fun Class) and rolling a Templar now for the Guild (which is pretty damn tuff to solo on the PvP Server without your buddies).
Anyways, whatever server you pick, be prepared, EQ2 pvp is more severe than WoW pvp system.
Originally posted by Arcken I think WOW and EQ2 are almost indentical.
This statement is pretty bad. WoW is a bad eq1 clone, played it, and my brain retaliated and nearly made me scoop my eyeballs out with a melon baller to keep from having to see it again.
Ok... did you seriously just call WoW a clone?? WTF? Their system started since Warcraft 1, they worked off their own ideas. Do NOT make the mistake of calling WoW a clone.

Yeah! EQ 2 is great game! That's what my friend did, he felt bored playing WOW and then he shift to EQ 2 now so far he found it interesting and he love it. You can give it a try if you want, he got his cd key at gamersloot.net if you're decided you can check it there.
