What people are telling you the game is crap?  Such a hard post to reply to. . .  You say that people are saying it is bad and then go on to talk about how you are excited about the game?

Anyway, the reason that G&H is getting poor hype is because many people read that sticky above that makes them think that SOE owns the game.  A lot of people hate SOE for being very mercenary with EQ and EQ 2 (pay to play and then pay for updates) and for screwing up SWG so royally.   In fact, G&H is being copublished by Sony Platform Publishing. . .  this means that Sony will be responsible for printing the boxes and CDs for the game and distributing them to stores, but Perpetual Entertainment will maintain the game servers, billing servers, customer service, and they will also own the rights to the game and they have 100% creative control of the game.  Still, most people don't read that far if they hate SOE.

Another incorrect rumor someone started is that G&H will be instanced the same way that Guild Wars was instanced.  This is untrue.  It is more like WoW, where 75% of the world is shared by other players and you go into instances only when it makes sense to do so. . .  when the designers want this as a tool for telling the story (you shouldn't blow up a castle and then see it isn't blown up later), or when they want to keep players from having to fight each other for boss spawns, etc.

As others have said, the game isn't out yet.  I agree with you though, it looks pretty sweet.

Now, about your original question regarding the "6.9 rating"...

Since the game isn't out, the 6.9 is a "hype" as opposed to a "rating".  This is just supposed to be a measure of how excited people are about the game.  The reason it only has a 6.9 rating, is mostly because several people who are excited about other games, have marked this one very poorly on the hype meter, in an attempt to boost the hype of their preferred game.  This is akin to making fun of others to make yourself look good - it rarely works, but people will always do it.

The problem with this hype system is that everyone's vote matters equally.  Generally speaking, that's a good thing for a vote, but in this case, it allows people who either know nothing about Gods and Heroes:  Rome Rising, or who simply want to boost the hype of another game, to cast a vote that has just as much weight as someone who has followed the game's development, read the FAQ's, and discussed topics on the official forums.

If you really want to decide for yourself whether this game will be worth your time (or not), ignore the hype meter and hop over to the official forums (see the links tab) and read a bit.  You'll find a lot of info about the game from Perpetual, but more importantly, you'll see the questions and concerns that others, like yourself, have asked, and have had answered.
