Ok, this poll is to see whos on whos side, and to find out how many true warriors we have among the forum. Show me your axe-wielding power and lets crush those pansy do-gooders!
do-gooders? bah, you dwarves are always the ones running around playing lap dog to the humans. =P
The night elves are bad-ass. Maybe you've been underground too long.

Well it seems us dwarves are winning, aren't we? I guess us "lap dogs" have quite a few fans beneath our belts, and that you elves have been a wee bit to busy singing and prancing to gather any real followers.
I have to admit I like the dwarves but alas not as an Axe-wielder - I had planned on being a Dwarven Mage - just because it's sorta wrong to have any kind of mage amongst dwarves who in many fantasy settings hate magic. Partly I like to have someone different as well and I figured there'd be fewer dwarven mages than anything - but ya never know.
I'll probably go with the routine warrior or paladin at first, but a dwarven rogue or mage would be quite fun. They might have racial difficulties or penalties for being those types of classes, but what fun is a character without a few flaws?
No race is going to be penalized for choosing to be a certain class. You can quote me on this. Since certain races are only allowed to be certain classes in the first place. That and you add the fact that the only 'down side' is they may not be 'as good' as another race may be, because of their stats. I strongly doubt they'll recieve any sort of penalty or negative modifers. As far as dwarves being casters in the RP sense, dwarven clerics have always been common in many fantasy settings. I guess if they can be rogues though, and gnomes can be warriors. Might as well let dwarves dabble in the dark arts.

Well said Dracius, Dwarves indeed have always been a great Cleric class, i suspect the lack of arcane magic dwarves must be because of their thick, strong, yet stubby hands and fingers - not the shape or dexterity for manipulating the magical components necessary for arcane magic. But then in WoW has there been any mention of components for mage spells?? as in Asheron's Call 1. If not then a dwarf may make a fine caster - perhaps not as much mana but far more hit points than say an Elf or even human. Either way hopefully Blizzard will have things relatively balanced out.
I was thinking about it after I read your post Getafix, and the hand size is now the only reason I can think of as to why Dwarfs do not cast arcane spells. In Dungeons and Dragons, for example, the Dwarf gets a penalty on charisma for being gruff and reserved. But wizards would use intelligence as there main spell casting ability, so the thought of a dwarf whipping out a wand of fireballs instead of a waraxe isn't so crazy after all.
The problem is now my computers broken, and I can't play the beta.....whimper......
"They fly like a kick ball in real life"? That doesn't make any sense what so ever. It seems though that the poll is starting to lean towards elves, which I knew it would in the end; too many people seeing films like LoTR and wanting to be the next Legolas.
But i'm not dissing on those who've actually liked elves for a long time, there not bad in most cases, it's just i'd personally choose a + 5 vorpal keen wounding lawful dwarven waraxe over an empowered delayed blast fireball.
P.S. your "I wanna cast magic missile" was originally a easter egg on the game summoner, a launch game for the ps2. It was made by the Dead Ale Wives, and you can find it and more of there funny stuff at http://www.deadalewives.com/funny.ccc. But be warned, some of the content may be a bit to risky for younger viewers.
Well i'm finally getting a job, huzzah for me, after a few paychecks i'll get a new computer in time for the realease of WoW. Until then, ya'll will have to tell me how it plays.
