Pirates of the burning sea?
I haven't heard anything of this game in a while... a real long while
I'm just curious since i know its still in beta.
Oh, and BTW, do you think they will use all the "pirates of the caribean" publicity to realease the game?
I know they don't have nothing to do with this but still...

no....Pirates of the Burning Sea is different that the console game.
Pirates of the Burning Sea is an MMO that has been in development for about 3 years. I think it'll be an ok game. Def. different in terms of MMORPG Genre....none of that fantasy stuff that we get 5 times a year

I was pretty hyped about this one, until I read that there would be no multiplayer ships... I mean, cmon, how cool would that be? And on that note, I can't figure why noone has made an MMO of that nature, ie as in actually living on board a multiplayer ship with real crew as pirates or whatnot...
I swear, developers nowadays seem to have some major tunnel vision.
Well, there's always Puzzle Pirates.
But, yeah. PotBS (I love that accronym. Hugs, not drugs.). It's one of the MMOs I'm keeping an eye on. I would attribute the lack of info over the last 9 months or so to the fact that they've been dilligently working on putting in avatars. It was pretty much non-existent before that, just a planned for feature. And by the looks of it, they've done a far greater job than...oh...say...Auto Assault.
It's akin to putting avatars into EvE, or JTL into SWG. A whole game within a game. If it's really kept them so busy thier PR and advertising has suffered, hopefully that's a good thing.
Though I must admit; I am getting the whole UX:O and DnL feeling here.

Uh oh...you said the DnL word. That can't be a good feeling.
Well, at least they're making an effort towards avatars... buuut..eh ya uh I can't imagine them topping AA. (lol) It wouldn't be spectactular on THAT level would it? hehe
If you have Battlefield 2 you should check the link in my sig.

Just my oppinion, but going with strictly solo controled ships has alienated people who wanted multiplayer ships also. It's a catch 22 right? Go one way, get burned, go the other way, get burned again.
About the only way they could have won that battle, have both. I'm sure that would have added an entirely difficult set of variables but IMO, would have been worth it.
For example, I wont touch this game because really, whats the point? Sure the sim like environment looks nifty enough, the wind attributes certainly look intricate but that's all symantical fluff in the end.
When I think about a large sailing ship, I think about their crews, the long nights spent with friends trying to cross an ocean against dangerous and perilous waves and storms, I think of a captain barking out orders and his/her crew working to hard together to get it done, I think about the tense moments going up against another crew, testing each others team work and knowledge of naval combat.
I'm sorry, but what I don't think about is one lone guy or girl behind the wheel saying "Woot! I pwnt you, har!" and you know that's exactly whats going to happen.
So yeah, personally, I don't see the point and it's more then enough to keep me away from this game, otherwise, I would have been jumping all over the game.

Pretty much what Shae said, the imagination of this game is really something. Can you see it?
But, can you picture it actually working correctly?
It's a good idea, but I think it will fail just as much as Auto Assault.
