A few newbie questions

lucidtimlucidtim Member Posts: 12

I'm playing the trial and had a few questions about this game.

I'm running about with my "taxi" taking passengers around but progress is slow toward paying of my loan. At 25cr for each trip I will have to make 280 trips to pay off the loan of 7000cr before I can try/buy anything else. My guess is that this might take me longer than the trial will last.

I don't mind working towards goals, like paying off the starter car and so on but I'd like to see more what the game has to offer while on the trial.

So I was wondering if there is a faster way to make money?

I wanted to try moving some cargo but I cant seem to fit much in my taxi

I've read I can trade in my vehicle towards another,

where can I do this? And does the loan have to paid off beforehand?

Whats the path most new players go? Work up from the taxi to other land vehicles and then to the aircraft then on to space? Just curious.

Thanks

I am a new player who recently began a subscription to Rise.

The taxi missions are really designed to give you a good feel for the control scheme of the game. You can run the taxi missions to completely pay off your car (I did), but it is a slow, tedious process. The question you have to ask yourself is if you plan on "going it alone" or "getting help from other players".

    Getting help from other players:
If you plan on "getting help from other players" (recommended, especially if you want to see stuff before the end of the trial), you will want to contact one of the veteran players online and see if one of them can hook you up with a new vehicle and a few chores. This is a great way to see the other parts of the game, and the player community is really good about answering questions.

    Going it alone:
If you plan on "going it alone", you will have to start learning how to trade between Deois (the major city in the game) and some of the outlying colonies. Your car can only haul one unit (MT) of cargo, so you'll need to scout out the outlying colonies to find out what they are buying or selling and determine how much profit you can make. You also have to take into account the driving time and how much gas is going to cost (not much for a car, but it does cut into profit).
As far as vehicles, I haven't seen a way to "trade in" a vehicle yet, but there are a couple of options for getting a new vehicle. Unless you plan on hauling cargo back and forth one unit at a time, you'll want to upgrade to something bigger. The most affordable vehicle above the car is a flatbed truck, but you will need a cargo pod to haul stuff with it (otherwise, you're relegated to towing cars). The types of resources that are in demand depend on various market conditions and player/colony needs. Some of the best cargo routes are the ones set up by other players who need a certain resource delivered to a certain colony. Most of those are posted on the Rise forums.
A new auction system has just been unveiled that will give you the opportunity to purchase some of the more expensive vehicles for about 1/10 the price. This feature just rolled out, so the selection is a bit limited (i.e. you need more money than most starting players will get within the trial period), but more stuff will be added in the near future.

I hope I answered your questions
