Thinking about buying this game

I'm thinking about buying this game tonight after work.  Problem is I can't really find any facts about the game, all the posts are drama about the devs and forum moderation and all that.  I hear the game is a train wreck so I gotta see it 1st hand for myself.  I see it's the lowest rated game on this site, I'm just trying to understand how it can be that bad.  I understand about there being lots of false promises and ill will and all that, but I want to know about the acutual game.  

How does pvp work in this game?  Can I kill people and grief them and stuff?

    Oh good lord, say you are joking.  It IS as bad as everything you read.  From broken features, painfully low frame rates, lack of customer service, EVERYTHING about this game is bad.  They have done two rollbacks to fix issues with patches, but the issues from the rollbacks are still there.  Everything about this game is shady, even the pricing.  They like to trick you into saying it is only $50 dollars to buy, but you also have to purchase your first month of play time as well.  Feel free to ask just about anyone about this game, read some of the posts here, and do yourself a favor and stay away.

    I encourage new people to play just because its not often one gets the chance to play the worst game ever made.  Just make sure after you have seen the game for yourself that you get a refund from Clickandbuy as dishonest developers should not profit.

    In regards to why the game is bad.  It really depends on personal taste.  The game is not stable, has almost no content, what content there is in the game is bugged and poorly designed and needs to be redesigned, the community is awful made up mostly of rude little children, and the world is empty.  There are some positives the world is huge, ridinga dragon is quite nice and the game is hard and harsh. 

    But you should not take my word for it.  Try it yourself and make sure you get a refund.

    Also check your CC statement to make sure that you were not charged $50 +$15 more than once.  It has happened.  You might end up paying hundreds of dollars for a month of playtime.  What a bargin.

    There are more than just "drama" posts here. If you were truly interested, you would only have to go back a page or two here at this board to find the answers.

    This is a bs post. You read the reviews on the rating, why come here and post this thread with that title and pretend you cant read anything about the real gameplay?

    Probably more like you can download the client and not log in like everyone else. Only for free.

    The reviews in the rating section are terrible, like most posts on this forum.   I'd like to hear from someone that sounds like they might have acutually played this great game and not the drama queens that complain they were charged for a game they *gasp* bought.

    I doubt there will ever be a free trial of DnL.  Farlans only hope is people will but it without knowing how bad the game is or they will but it out of curioisty just to see how bad a game can really be.  Letting people play it first for free almost automatically means no sale plus they may tell thier friends how bad Dnl is.  Farlan can only sell this game by lies and deception not by letting people play it.

    Since you don't trust the good advice you're receiving here, you should pay a visit to the official forums at www.darkandlight.net/forums.

    You may be in for a big surprise, as even the most devoted supporters are leaving the sinking ship....

    Tons of posts there with plenty of reasons for the failure of this "so called" game, from logging issues, crashes and simply dismal or non existent gameplay.

    But, to answer your question:

    I am a bona-fide non-drama queen, as I am rich. I bought and tried the game even after some guildies in the beta and SOG reported "AVOID AT ALL COSTS! NO CHARTER HERE!" So I bought a full subscription and game, played it for 3 weeks, and dumped it. I do not seek a refund, and frankly don't care.

    Here is my report as a experienced gamer and former guildmaster:

    1. Great landscape, reminded me of WW2 Online. You need more than a landscape tho.

    2. The male characters look retarded, like old french porn with receding hairlines. The female asses, however, were very well made, and you saw lots of it.

    3. Archaic game design. Nothing new. Many basic game elements broke. Way tedious. Many exploits.

    4. Economic system is broke.

    5. Many combat "specials" broke, or non-functional.

    6. In general, not fun to play, which is a basic element in any game. Ask any professional game designer, (go to Gamasutra.com for some schooling) graphics on't make a ame,  good design makes a game.

    Summary: It appeared to be mainly an advertisement for the world engine, which even now we learn there are issues as to how they procured the game engine. Questionable marketing practices (namely obvious paid shills to "hype" the game) on various forums in the gaming community.

    I take that last sentance very seriously. I think it is bad for gaming to compensate people to "hype" a game, as the intention is to mislead vs entertain.   

    So ClintTX, since you are an obvious shiller/troller, here is what the gaming community thinks of you below:

    You better hurry up while the game is still up and running.  I am sure Ztyx or Weg will be glad to help you out.  And after you get that castle built in the middle of this empty mmorpg world, you guys can stand around and have a big circle jerk because that will be about the most entertaining thing for your toons to do in game. 

    Hey and since you got the money to blow, why don't you donate some money to feed the hungry children in Africa.  I wish I would have done that instead of wasting my money on this game.

    I can say without hyperbole that ClintTx here is an awful troll and needs much more practise.
