Bush Gropes Germany's Merkel

07.18.2006

Bush Gropes Germany's Merkel

President Bush took time out from the G-8 Summit to grope German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It boggles the mind. John has the video up.

Iraq and the Middle East are in flames and we have no credibility
around the world, but our Groper in Chief decides to give the little
lady some attention. After all, it's what women really want, now isn't
it. But what can we expect with a "fratboy," prepubescent president in
charge? It is an outrage. However, the wingnut brigade thinks it's all
in a day's work for George W.

Here's just one comment I got from a wingnut reader:

Bush is a Texan. Texans hug one another, kiss one another,
place their hands on other's shoulders, and give hand squeezes all the
time. You libs are always talking about understanding the culture of
others and it's time for you to start understanding Texas culture.
We're not cold and frigid like you Yankees are.

Sheesh, you need to get a life.

Ah, yes, you silly women, sexual harassment is in the eye of the
beholder. Boys will be boys, especially at the G8 Summit. As for the
conservative bloggers, it's a non-issue. For women like myself trying
to make it in the world of political commentary, foreign policy and
military issues, as well as radio and blog reporting, respect is all.
It's bad enough we can't get on the Sunday shows, but now our president sends out the message that a world leader can be manhandled at will.

As for women in the blogosphere, digby nailed Bush, and Lindsay,
who calls Bush a "drive-by harasser," expresses how most of us are
feeling about this insult: disgusted, humiliated and embarrassed.
Christy from FDL said this: "This isn't a Sigma Chi kegger, it's the G8 Summit...".

George W. Bush was supposed to bring "honor and integrity" back to
the White House, but instead he's disgraced us all. If you need more
evidence, it's all here.

Justin, do you have any thoughts yourself? Or does copy and paste encircle all you know about politics?

Great, one blogger hates President Bush and another loves him. My world is upside down.

Seriously, get a life: Did you notice that he had patted the guy next to her on the back? It was platonic, not sexual; you feminists just took it out of context, because you have an axe to grind against any man in power.

The president shouldn't be the president: Every American realizes this, since his mental faculties are clearly indicated by his speech. He got his position through nepotism and nothing more.

Attacking the president is like kicking a mongoloid child in the face: You do nothing but make yourself look cruel, since the object being kicked is not to blame; the system that created it is.

Believe it or not, but most people really care about what you have to say rather than your genitals: i.e. few people like Hillary Clinton, because of her insipid policies not her vagina.

People are more intelligent than you give them credit for: Instead of blaming your shortcomings on the world, ask yourself if it could be your credentials or mental faculties that are lacking.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

More about the wording of your post than the topic, really, but... "Prepubescent"? As in, before puberty? Ok, well, what's that have to do with his groping some woman? I mean, if that word actually fit, he'd be off... I dunno, not groping women? I don't condone groping, but... I mean, "prepubescent" doesn't fit, man. Seems to me, you were just happy to include such a long word, regardless of it's meaning. Next time, try to work in the word "onomatopoeia."

Well first off he didnt grope her, he patted her shoulders as in means to help her relax in a humorus way, the article even says she was in debate with the guy next to her. If he grabed her chest or her crotch, that would have been a grope.

Im not a bush fan, but those links and websites are just stupid, just like the feminist who started the stories.

Yeah, well, I didn't even really read the original post... Ok, well, I read the first half, then I got bored... Needless to say, I didn't check out any of the other sites or anything. Sorry if I sounded a bit confrontational in my last post. I was half joking, half confused.

insignificant imo.  Besides, who knows what their relationship is like, they might get along pretty well, world leaders can make friendships as well.  What was the context of the conversation? etc, etc, etc

yep, absolutely not worthy of news.

Yea as much as I hate Bush's policy that didnt look like anything wrong to me and only if the Chancellor herself said anything then I guess it was ok with her. They are very good friends and very similar in politics from what I have read and heard so I wouldnt make to much of the issue as all the people dieing and suffering because of Bush should be what is focused on?

    You guys downplay this alot...

Here's what I do know.. Despite what thier relationship might be... Giving massages has no place at the summit. No place when you are conducting business. She wasn't even talking to him. She barely even saw him.. And if their relationship is so great then he would have not quickly walked away without even turning back...

Think of it this way. If I go up to a lady and randomly start massagin her neck at work then i would  be liable to go to sensitivity training at the very least and charged with harrassment at the very extreme.

.... I know you guys are trying to down play it... And in reality i know that it's really something that is significant. But what you also have to accept is that President bush is a symbol of america. He is what people see what other governing officials think about america.. Persident bush is that embassador... And going around massaging women randomly in public.. wether or not they have a healthy relationship is disturbing to me.

It wouldn't have been anything at all if President bush didn't practically run away..

my office has 17 ladies that work there and for the life in me I cant ever think of a time I have physically touched any of them while at work 3 of them I go out with at least 3-4 times a month after meetings for some r&r one is a close friend and at the end of night we sometimes hug and kiss (on the cheek only) but I would NEVER have any physical contact with her in the office

BTW she is a personal close friend comes to my house goes out for meals with my wife knows my kids

It would be easy for me to say bush is a noob when it comes to political communication listen to how he spoke with Tony Blair at the G8 summit, but its there for everyone to see. From what I saw the germen chancellor looked very uncomfortable with what he did what I would also suspect that if it happened "in the office" bush would be called in on his actions friendly or not he embarrassed himself his country and her

Tin Foil hats dont work.. its all a conspiracy

Exactly... Those kinda of actions have no place at work... I dont know why you think you have to make excuses for him.. [ooohhh bush is just a texan... and texans show their love with pats on the back and shoulder massages] or other crap excuses... The fact remains.. Bush was at work... and work is not the place to "show your love"

A humanitarian crisis is happening in Lebanon and president bush is at the G8 summit making nice with the ambassadors? amazing

PS: We as normal citizens dont have as big as an opportunity to help as Bush does. But instead of being serious and concerned about things of the world Prez Bush rather give unwanted back rubs to foreign officials. It's a shame

I completly agree, but I still see this as quite trivial when there are fare more important issues .

Why do we always end up calling each other terrorist or terrorist sympathizers?

for the 20937820978092th time, nobody posting here is a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer, be him a Republican or Democrat Got it? Probably not. Maybe it get through to you in time. I'm not holding my breath though.

Besides, what the hell does this have to do with the topic at hand? Absolutely nothing. If you're going to post that utter crap, at least put it somewhere where it isn't just random party bashing and off topic.
