i duno about you guys but ifoud that factions was way to eay..took me not even a full day to beat the game..on both side i got everything done.. i mean its a great game and all but i think ANet shoulda made the story line longier, and its not that easy to level up.

Although I don't completely agree, I do agree that leveling was too fast and too easy. In prophecies at least it took me a few minutes to hit level 2, in factions I walked through a door and leveled up. I still prefer the core storyline over factions.

Do you mean literally one day...or 24 hours of gameplay?

I don't think it's physically possible to do every mission (including the running between the missions) faster than about 10 to 15 hours. Even if you had a full team of 7 guildies or mates running you through it, I still think travel time and mission time alone would make for about 10 hours of "play"...not that it would be REAL play.

I've spent 90 hours on my 'sin so far, and am still finding new things to do and see. I'm up to 95% on my Canthan Cartography, and I'm still having fun. If you want to rush through content, and not really play the game...then I suppose you can do that too.

The point in GW is PVP so I thought , The story line is nothing more than a side show .

For a "sideshow" the PvE in GW is some of the BEST in the business. In fact I haven't seen a better put-together storyline in any MMO.

The fact that it's compact, well-connected and "short" (unlike a standard MMO) makes it all the better. The great thing about GW is that there's so much other stuff to do than just the storyline.

I accuculty found the storyline in GW really fun ive played 48hrs on my W/Mo in RP mode an 1 hr on my W/N in PvP arenas

Be4 i bought the game i read the reviews all of said PvE in GW sucked i found out it was teh best storyline i have ever seen an the PvE really impressed me (my thoughts where that PvE would suck 2)

An how can u scimm through the game in 1day it takes me 1 day to finish 3 missions an i get a couple quest in

Again, its a good time to remind ppl that GW is a CORPG. So, being a competitive online RPG, ANet havent put the accent on the storyline but on the concept of one of the best PvP battleground system. The story isnt really more than a tutorial(the best tutorial i've ever done though...). If you want more of a cooperative online gameplay instead of a competitive one, you should consider a MMORPG instead.

I have been playing guildwars for a grand total of 13 months and during those 13 months probably about 600 hours total. I have played 3 characters through the entire storyline and that's it, I have only rushed one character through and that was the core storyline in 6 days. I don't like rushing through because the GW game content is so amazing, making sure you get mission and bonus (or master) on all missions is challenging and trying to get wisdom and exploration titles can be alot of fun. Even if the leveling is fast, that is just more time you get to enjoy playing through the game at maximum capability. Leveling up quickly is an essential part of the "ArenaNet Goal" which is making a game that requires skill not time. If you rushed through in 1 day first I say that I feel sorry for you because you are missing the point of the game, and secondly I say that maybe GW isn't for you. If you don't like the fact that you can only get to level 20 and play through the game quickly then maybe you are more suited to WoW? I don't know if you have played WoW or not but for the first time in my life I am reccomending that you try the 14 day trial, I don't like WoW but I think it might be a little more your style...

You'll probably like WoW rockwell...but I expect to see you on the WoW forums in a couple of weeks saying:

WoW is so short, I beat it in a week.

PS. It annoys me that people "bag" a game by saying I finished it "this quick". When what they've really done is TRY to finish it as quickly as possible (using every possible means to do so)...mainly so they can boast about how quickly they finished it.

I prided myself in finishing Factions with my first character very early on, I purposefully played it rather "fast", wanting to get a complete overview of the story...but I would NEVER then go on to complain that the game was short. During my first playthrough, I didn't ask for anyones help at any stage, no runs, no guides, no bunch of guildies running me through (none of my guildies were near finishing it anyway), I worked through the whole thing myself, finding places, working out missions, henching through all but the almost-impossible-to-hench missions, in effect playing my character as if she was new to the world and exploring it herself. It took me about 30 hours. I thought that was fairly fast. To me it felt fulfilling and engrossing...I did it justice.

impossible, this is just showing off

you cannot complete the whole game in 1 day and having done both sides
you can however as said inhere already do the missions and the running in between of it  in about 15 hrs if you are lucky and about 20-25 if you need time to find parties and such...

but completing the game?, everything done on both sides? i bet you left every quest as it was.

Exactly my point! It is impossible to beat THE WHOLE GAME u gotta get every single quest, mission, 100% exploration to beat the whole game.

I dont even think that having 100% of everything could be considered 'beating the game' because the gameplay was build so primarily around PvP, you would pretty much also have to exert yourself as the absolute best PvPer in guildwars as well to truely have every aspect of this game beat.  Beating a mmorpg in general is a silly idea.  Its like claiming that you beat tetris.  You cant beat tetris, the blocks just keep moving faster till you lose.

I have no clue how you could have even finished all the missions within 24 hours though.  I havent even trying to get master on each mission and I think I've spent over 24 hours without getting my first character all the way through, and then I'll have to bring my other characters (I have too many for my own good) through it too!  Long ways to go!

I agree that PvE is a sort of 'sideshow' to guildwars, where PvP is the main attraction...  Its pretty funny though, seeing how guildwars has some of the best PvE I've ever seen in a mmorpg.  Ironic really.  I guess it is rather linear, but other mmorpgs hardly have dynamic quests.  I do remember in SWG that sometimes npcs would spawn at random and hand out quests, thats pretty much the only dynamic quests I've ever seen in a mmorpg.  Other than that, you are pretty much stuck walking around trying to find guys to give you quests, and guildwars has enough of those to keep you busy, plus all the coop missions which exceed all other mmorpgs instanced dungeons and so on.

I think the reason guildwars has fun PvE is because the whole gameplay was built around PvP, not PvE.  Most mmorpgs make a game thinking about PvE, then try to add PvP later.  Guildwars did the opposite.  And for that reason, every PvE encounter plays out more like PvP... As opposed to the opposite, which you see in a lot of other mmorpgs.  I would also attribute the great skill and class balancing in GW to this, at least partially.

SWG did have a few random quests yes.  Most of them I just found plain annoying.  Such as the Tatooine title quests.  For one of them you have to find one creature, that spawns on server restarts and wanders the map randomly.  Unless you can cover over half the map (and have the time/patience to do it) you only really every accidentally find them.  That was sure dynamic, but entirely painful.  And then the moisture farmer that gave you the quest to save his family.  A NPC that randomly wanders around in a radius that covers like half the map.  That was more painful and irritating then fun to me....  And if you did one talking option he would disappear and you wouldn't get the quest and have to try to find him all over again.

Although to their credit they are at least trying to make things dynamic like that.  Not always the same NPCs in the same spot with the same quest.

on some parts i do agree, leveling up is actually really easy, but i think some quests are very hard.  Sometimes it wouold take me hours to finish a mission, and sometimes it takes an hour to find a group doing the mission.  The game is long to me.

I havn't played gw yet just reading on it but just wanted to say something on tetris the blocks are the same speed above 19 as they are at 19. LOL but also the fact of beating a game like swg,wow or i would think gw and gwf imposable becasue there is not end to the game i have yet to see credits and the end lol
  • paranoidpvpparanoidpvp Member Posts: 539

There is sort of an endgame but the endgame doesn't end the game....

But reaching endgame just means that you have played through adn gained knowledge, time to start pvp or make a different character and run it through again! Thing is that even running two characters through. the professions are so different that it will seem like a different game. For example playing a mesmer through the game you will be hanging farther back in your team trying to shut down opponents and prevent them from harming your team. If you play through with a warrior you will be at the front lines trying to stay alive and do as much damage as possible to your opponents. Everything in GW varies so much that you can actually play through it twice and have a great time both times!!!
