Is PRE- CU being reinstated or no?

I am an old veteran of SWG. I played for nearly two years but quit when they brought in the new Combat Upgrade, which completely ruined the game..hence me leaving. I found Pre CU SWG to be one of my most favorite games of all time untill they royally F'd it up.
The question is...are they bring back PRE CU SWG because i have seen some people post about its return in other forums...can someone verify yes or no pls?

There are numerous people still playing and not that are fighting SOE at every turn, trying to get pre-CU put back in. I finally ran out of patience waiting, even though I feel it is still inevitable. When they finally insulted me with an unjustified forum ban, I left. There are lots of people still actively stirring up interest in pre-CU that are still in game. I do not feel bad for inciting unrest for them...they started this war.
We all know how this ends...everything dies eventually. It's just a question of whether or not SOE wants to milk the pre-CU sentiment to make as much cash as they can while they can. That is why I think they will cave sooner than later.

I completely agree with you jrscott. I had gone to played WoW for a while after they screwed over SWG...and it was fun for a bit, but i can confidently say that i never have enjoyed an MMORPG as much as i had while playing SWG Pre CU for nearly two years. Nothing has compared to it at all. I think part of it just has to do with the fact that the Star Wars story is my favorite science fiction saga by far. There was nothing like playing on the imperial side and raiding rebel cities with 100+ friends
Its too bad that it has come to this desperate state, but i hope that SOE wises up and rolls back to the pre cu days, because if they did i believe they could instantly regain thousands of old players like myself.

It'll be back in a highly modified version. It'll still be the NGE but they'll piece parts back in as features.
Of course now that Star Wars Galaxies Complete is confirmed the rumors are spinning wildly.
Guess we'll see.
I dont know about you guys, but i feel that the old combat system with the que for skills on the top right, NOT the first CU that was just a cheap version of WoW, should be one thing they bring back. They also need to set the skill trees back to the original state and get rid of the thousands of Jedi's and go back to a much much more difficult path to being a Jedi. Having thousands of Jedi's was just absolute BS. I have not played the NGE, but i did play a little bit after the first CU, which i didnt think was horrible, but it ruined my pvp life for me because my melee tank build that was amazing for pvp became all but useless.
I would love to see alot of the pre cu elements come back, but theres no use being too optimistic, because after all it is SOE, and they have been F'ing up the game for the past 2 years already.
But they aren't the only dealers in the neighborhood anymore.

See I agree but the one thing is this:
WoW does not PRETEND to be somthing it's not... thats the real Kudos I give them.. and NO matter what they have nothing to prove on the MMO success world front.. we all know how bad they kicked the shit out of just about every MMO out there as far as numbers goes.
They add more servers all the time and that alone is messed up --
SWG never could even fill one other then Bria... I agree, WoW is NOT as complex as old SWG was or as fun BUT right now, I rather pay Blizzard then SOE any day. At least Blizzard is working and has alot more people in it, plus I do think the PvP is fun. SOE has almost ruined SWG -- pretty much made a joke of it at least.
Too bad though, we really did have a fun game then.

Oh i completely agree with you, but i just was stating that i have never had as much fun with a game as i did with the Pre CU SWG game. I wasnt down talking WoW at all. Hell i played wow for almost two years, got my character all the way to AQ, so i know alot about wow and consider myself a veteran of that game as well. BUT i would have never played WoW if SOE didnt crap all over itself and SWG with the CU and everything after that.
Pretty much i just wish they would wise up and reset everything to the good ole days. Which obviously wont happen but whatever...

They'd rather lose every non-station pass sub than admit it was a mistake to scrap that original game design.
I really wish the people holding onto hope that it gets put back, or even almost put back would just cancel. Every dollar you give them is an excuse to keep this travesty running.
All we can do is speak with our wallets and let the market tell them what they lost and won't ever have back.

i truly hope they do. actually i would be happy with the CU. it wasn't that bad after a while it was getting better and better till november 15 2005 when it got shitty.
but i totally agree we need to stop paying at least for like 3 months and i gurantee we will start making progress. i mean i would rather take 6 months to a year off of swg and get the pre-cu or cu back than play 6 months to year of nge but that my opinion
No one conclusively knows, not even the good Mr. Shuckles.
There is a lot of speculation, but nothing substantive and conclusive. Stay tuned for future developments.

No it will not be reinstated:
1) It had problems that needed addressing which the combat re-vamp was supposed to fix. The problems are still there and I don't see them fixing it for a 3rd time.
2) Returning the game to pre-CU screws up thier plans to make SWG a PS3 or Xbox Game (you know it's coming)
3) They would have to admit to people above them that the NGE was a failure and they were wrong.
4) Rumor has it that the NGE is targeted for the Asian MMO market. As we all know - Classic SWG failed in Asia. When all the bugs are worked out of the NGE it will be re-released in Asia. Asia makes up 75% of the MMO market.
However, If the EMU's wings are strong enough and it really takes off over-shadowing the NGE then $OE may rethink the NGE and bring out the classic game. But because of 2 & 4 I doubt it.

They should have just used the Asian servers for the NGE test bed and left our game alone. They already lost most of the Asian market (thus, they pulled the servers), in the long run, with all the Western market they lost with the NGE, it probably would have come out the same money wise to keep the Japanese servers running with NGE for test and let us keep the CU.

Oh well, I am done with SOE for now... I am keeping my money and they are keeping the downward spiral...
SWGs graphics are not anime enough for the asian market.
