Will this end the constant whining over factional raid differences? Doubtful. ^_^

For all those Hordlings that wanted a paladin, now you can.

Blood elf Paladins? You've gotta be joking. Why would a blood elf be a Paladin??

i was wodnerign the same thing first off paladins are all about peace ad justice and fightign for the light blah blah blah.  Dont make sense that a horde race, who want to take everything over, would want to be a protector of the light? dotn make sense to me lol.  The draenie (however u spell the dang thing) being shamans soudns pretty cool, ill prolly make one myself i assume. blood elves being paladins tho?????? hmmm well see how it goes i guess lol

WTF OMG thats so stupid wow ... I just read this like 10min ago on the WoW site and Im pissed, I think its a bad idea.

The concept is fun, but the lore is just too awful.

    Let me fix the lore:

Blood Elves - Before breaking from the alliance the blood elves adopted paladin warriors known as the "whatever they called em".

Drainie - On the planet of Drainie when the orcs and drainie lived in peace together, they both adopted shamanistic characteristics after listening to the wind and sea and grass.

I think it benefits the Horde more than the Alliance. Paladin buffs are eminently better than anything a shaman can provide in a raid.

As for Paladins representing all that is good; be mindful the Horde isn't considered necessarily 'bad'.

Well the lore is just awful, because apparently the blood elves live on demonic energies.  Even though the horde is not 'bad'.  I remember the frustrations the horde had with freeing themselves from the demonic energies, but now they are allied with a race that decided to harness it, does that make sense to anybody?  Now the demonic energy elves also harness the power of light .... dumb.

Warlocks draw upon 'demonic energies', but are part of the Alliance. I suppose it's what you do with said energies that defines whether you're good or evil.

Hmm... if i had to decide what to do instead of that i would... :

Instead of B.E. Pallys, change them to Death Knights or something.
Instead of D. Shamans, have them as Elemental Conjurers or something along that line

    Double post
  • The story for blood elves sucks.  Woulda been better to make them magic addicts who are struggling for redemption and sought out narru to help them with thaeir constant inner turmoil.

I dunno I can see why they did it, but its a sorta lazy and uninspiring decision.  Certainly, for raiding only, paladins are far better than shaman.  Taking out all the flavor of the faction difference just to balance raids. Meh.

The factional differences is one of the main reasons that Starcraft is so much better than Warcraft 2.  I gotta think they could have made it work but choose not to.  I don't really care but its not a decision that earns my respect.

I think blizzard were planning to release a new class with the new races, as you almost have to - 8 races/8 classes etc but they just got lazy towards the end and couldn't be arsed so they threw out some whack ideas and this is the shit they came up with that was best

I dunno.  I was reading one of th threads on official forums and some mentioned throwing in the cards.  And yeah to me its like they were holding ther hand trying to make it work and then just said "Yeah I got nothing, ok, I fold".  It does seem lazy,  but now what? Do they need to rebalance all their dungeons?  Is a paladin/shaman combo gonna do stupid things that shouldn't happen in PvP?  Maybe they have given themselves more work.  Wouldn't surprise me, they have been pretty shortsighted over the last year.

Ah well I don't play this game, I have no intention of going back.  It does solve some problems, but I dunno it kinda makes me sad on some level.  Its just kinda a shame.  Its just mush.  Gray. White bread. Blah.

The only thing holding me back from quitting is my decently geared characters and that I have nothing better to play. If i find a new MMO I would be more than happy to quit the game that saw the rise and fall of blizzard quite honestly.

God having a shaman and paladin combo is gonna make pvp so damn annoying with paladin buffs and sheilds with shaman short heals. Also everyone on their mother is gonna be a pally and shaman now. Well it does give people that had trouble getting into raiding guilds something to do grind the shit out of a Paladin on horde side hit 60 and you'll have tons of guilds to join and vice versa for alliance shaman.

Got to admit I was a little shocked that blizz would do something like this, although the lore reasons do sort of fit in.  The lore has changed alot with everything within the expansion but bliz seems to be making it fit in alright.  Although it does look like blizz was having such a hard time balancing the two classes and decided to fix it by giving both sides both classes ... seems like the lazy way to try and fix it.  Will be interesting to see how paladins, and shaman work together in a party and in raids.

The beginning of whining you mean when the support shamans get put out of business by paladins on horde side lol.... Such a joke the shaman is at end game. Will be funny to see Blizzard HAVE TO TAKE A REAL LOOK AT THE SHAMAN CLASS.

I'm gonna assume that some things won't stack or will be taken out.  I mean Salvation + tranquil air would be alot more threat reduction.  If they don't make them non-stacking then that has some rather hmm  uh significant implications for how the epac dungeons will work.

I would guess maybe you can only have so many total blessing/totem buffs on you at one time.  That is probably how I would do it.

One thing to realize as well.  This only balances the factions for those who buy the expac ...

I may be cynical but I suspect that was major consideration for them.  The expac will cause some things to be avialble to everyone but the cross faction races are only avaialble if you buy it.  Cha ching.

Great, so what is the differnce now between Alliance and horde? They are both holy and shamanistic?

Further evidence that Blizzard has no love for this game and soley sees it as a money making vehicle.  Rather than work on shamans in regards to pve and paladins in regards to pvp, lets just make both classes available to both factions!!

Now all uniqueness has been firmly driven out of the game.

And btw, the lore was made to fit their laziness.  This isn't a further progression in the lore, it's them changing it to suit their laziness.  I mean we could see that when they introduced the new races, couldn't we?  New horde race?  How about blond white elves instead of purple haired blue ones.  Alliance?  Take the Tauren model and tweak it a bit.

Yes, yes, it is now abundantly clear that we got an immensely uncreative, lazy group of developers and management team.  At the end of the day, they will still be the biggest mmo out there no matter what they do to this shell of an RPG.  Yes lets rember the RPG part.

Well Paladins will replace all shaman except for one for WF and Mana Tide maybe.  Goodbye Shaman, time to reroll.

This is so gonna bork PvP it looks like if I do decide to come back to wow I'll be rolling a blood elf paladin to get into that raid guild that needs me for gear. Also in terms of pvp Blood Elves have AOE silence, sheild run at large group silence fuck them up wow that is gonna be so fun for the alliance glad I play horde.

Defeating a paladin in PvP is a matter of patience, a lot of patience lol. They're not too hard, but with shields, plate, and healing time is the largest factor.

Pesonally, I found playing a paladin extremely boring.

I think Blizzard made the decision instead of adding paladin abilities to shamans, and visa versa.

Well atleast then shamans can't get good gear and therefore won't dominate BG's  because shamans atm with decent epics just own the shit out of everything
