Emo Music and Mainstream in General

What is this trash doing on the radio? All of this whiney emo crap seriously needs to be taken off the radio, all the cds/tapes/peoples hard drives(with emo music on them) need to be burned into ashes, and then the ashes need to be hurled into the sun.

I am getting so sick and tired of turning on the radio and hearing nonsense mainstream "rock" bands like, Hawthorne Heights whining about how their lives suck. They really need to quit whining and stfu.

Yeah I bet their lives are really awful with all of the millions of dollars they are making from mindless, teenage drone losers. Bah!

Anyone with me on this?

I've been to many of those concerts, hawthorne, ect.

There intrumental sounds good, but whining is annoying.

I' went to a "screaming is for babies" tour, and it was just as emo as friggen emo music.

so i've gone to hard rock, as i lay dying, ect. so yea emo does need to get off the radio, wheres the brittany spears?

A quick fix in a few easy steps:

    1. Don't listen to the radio.

    2. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES visit myspace.com.

    3. Make sure to get regular haircuts so you dont end up with 'emo hair', thus spawning conversations with emo kids about emo and myspace.

u lost my respect as soon as u went into the offensive area.  All u had to do is say u personally didn't enjoy that kind of music and you thought it was disproportionately prevailing on the radio.

Since u didn't, I think u stand pretty much alone in your island of arrogance.

Hey, I kind of like that kind of music... Well, it's my favorite kind of music, but I'm not really into music, and the music biz annoys me. The whole "Record a song, then have people listen to it for years to come." doesn't sit right to me. You know, the whole "Have to perform a song you wrote long ago, before you were you." thing. I say "before you were you," 'cuz people change... Well, I'm not who I was last year, anyway... I agree that musicians are too fake, though. If only I had some talent...

I'm not saying you don't have a point about emo music being everywhere all over radio or not, it's just the way u came out shooting fireballs at the emo culture.
It's just art, let people enjoy whatever they want to enjoy.
I suggest you write/call these radio stations and complain about their unbalanced music selection.  And by the way, be polite about it, and it might actually work.
    No, I'm not emo.

you should really be apologizing to someone else, but from my part I accept your apology, I understood what u meant right from the start, it just came out in the wrong way.

    Um... anger problem?

But leave those emo kids alone, its most likely a phase that they're going through and people's sense of music and culture might change. I used to be into pop-punk like blink 182 , but i matured and am now more stuff like video game music and swing (like Cherry Poppin Daddies). Those emo kids'll grow up one day and chase the next musical fad.

The only problem is, with the exception of Bright Eyes, that mainstream emo lacks instrumental and vocal talent. It's just that people are too lazy to actually find a musical niche, so they throw themselves into the emo movement. It's popularity with hormone-imbalanced angst-ridden teens isn't a coincidence. People with self-confidence and ears realize this genre of music is greatly lacking in talent.

well, it's not my kind of music, and I don't listen to the radio or watc TV for music, so I can't really opinionate about it, but the problem you speak of sounds like a recurring phenomenon for many, many years now, with a huge variety of music genres.  When something hits big, a whole lot people jump on it and the market gets flooded with any given joe trying to make a buck.  It happened with 80s pop, grunge, hip-hop and rap, heck u name it, that's how the industry works.

The best cure is not to buy their music.  But don't worry, it's just a phase, it'll die off and something new and irritating will be knocking on your eardrums eventually. hehe  I think eventually people just tend to quit the mainstream media as a source of new entertainment and start frequenting the niches, looking for the exact things they like.

Blink 182 is by far the worse band that has come out in my lifetime. Green Day is right behind them.

I don't really listen to Emo, I like some of the newer hard rock (I.E. Disturbed, Avenged 7x, Mudvayne, Etc.)

I don't like to listen too much to people whine, Unless you consider Mudvayne's "A World So Cold" Whining, which I doubt.

As for the radio problem you can write letters, But you might as well just call and make requests. Or get a MP3 player and turn off the radio.

Yo, buddy, you need to shut the hell up.

There's lots of good emo, you just gotta look for it.

Check out the song Paper Doll by Renee Renee/Mark Hoppus.

It's emo but also prolly in the top 3 best songs i've ever heard.

Listen Asmodeeus, seven years ago, Ultima Online didn't even have those pathetic "quests" that you refer to or those "professions" of ninja, samurai, necromancer, and paladin. Nor did it have any of the neon crap, or bug mounts. It didn't even have any "combat moves." You turned on attack and jousted with simplistic swings. It was a better game then. if you can't guess why then just uninstall the thing and move along. - Crabby

Emo is what rich kids listen to when they need a reason to feel sad.

Alt rock in the early to mid 90s broke a lot of molds and myths about rock, and it opened the door for emo and other types of music (thank you Mr. Cobain, for saving us from Michael Bolton and Paula Abdul). However in its prime it was about self expression, non comformity, and openly admitting things in our society are just wrong.

Now, roughly 10 years later that particular torch has burned out, now like everything else that appeals to our media driven youth, music is about sales.

I run into a lot of teenagers that are still into 90s rock, if only for the reason that they dont feel so much like a sell out to newer, commercialized rock.
