Any thoughts, reviews of the game so far?

I would appreciate a current review or opinion of the game so far. It looks interesting and unique, but I have also heard that it is very tedious. Can some players give a short assessment of the game?

here is what I have gotten out of everyone's comments so far:

    "Wait your turn"

Other then that a few players have already posted their thoughts in other threads for everyone to read, perhaps you should try them instead of asking them to repeat themselves.

Yes, I saw some of those, but some appear to be outdated. That's why I said a "current" review, and not what was the game like a couple weeks ago, or list 7 things you don't like about the game. I want to hear the pluses and minuses, and what it is like right now.

Right now you can't do a damn thing.  I have logged in three times.  The first two you couldn't talk to the master to get started.  The third I was stuck and couldn't move, before I could do anything they said they were taking the server down.

So to be honest I have had the game for a day and I can't tell you a thing about it.

Hmm aren't all the reviews like 1 or 2 weeks old only?

no magic wands appeared in this time.Lag came and is back but now the server loses track of your character and u are 5-10 mins behind in actions, random errors ,random disconnection and oh did i say the lag is back -)

Plus changes since my last review-now a auto run button(how did the game get released without one!),there are now players to de attend you if they are online and you ask and find them.

the lag has neither come back nor left. The lag has nothing to do with the server. It is how many hops it has to take to get to you. Where you live is the lag issue.

I have never seen this bad a server issue in testing. It more then likly is hte bottle necking, I just hope they release the new patcher soon. Also the login handler could do with improvement.

I knew this game was going to end up just like Shadowbane did so I did not put any effort into it or grow attached.  The technology for the type of world they want to create wasn't there for Shadowbane and it's not here for this game now.  Well the technology is there, it's just that nothing can keep up to the amount of changes the server goes through per second in the world.  Have fun with a broken game, I know the 15 people left playing Shadowbane have a blast I'm sure of it.

Actually , there are like 10,000 people playing Shadowbane.  And its still the best pvp game out there.

Assaulted by a Gods and Heroes player?  Not exactly new, but I personally have a blast in-game.  Not for those who like cheap gameplay and quick rewards (not saying GnH is this, I haven't even perused the game.)

If you have patience, and are more into larger, longer rewards, this game is for you.  But it is not a pick-up and play affair, you have to immerse yourself.

So tell me, what kind of effort would you have put into it if you thought it would make it?  I assume you mean you would spend time coding with RB.  Nice try making yourself sound more important than you really are.

Dark Age of Camelot I think is the best PVP.  My 2 $.    And EVE...

Also - This game I think appeals to an older and well educated gamer demographic.  If they fix what appears to be some technological issues, this will be a truly successful niche MMORPG.

It is rather exhaustive to read through everything on the website of what they are trying to do, but if you get through even half of it you begin to realize that they are making a great alternative to fantasy based MMORPG's.

I was reading some of the complaints on this forum - and they were completely baseless for one main reason - the complainer was basing their experience on games like EQ, WoW, and such.

This game doesn't seem to cater to the instant gratification crowd.  It's gonna attract a more established and older type of base, and for this reason I am actually excited for it.

I hope that they will work out whatever technical issues there may be, and I for one will definitely try it out in a month or two.

It will take a more than a month or two to fix this game. This is just like Mourning and Dark and Light.

Its really sad that companies release games in such a buggy unnfinished state.

The game was nothing close to this pre-release.  It had great tracking, and fps, and the NPC's had no bugs in them besides a few wanted improvements.

All games go through stress when they first release, because it is hard to tell how to respond to such a large player load.  I'd like to know how long you've actually tried Roma Victor for, and if you had any chance to play it pre-release, when the bugs that have cropped up (and are being attended to day and night) weren't there.

true but attending is still the same i believe? i won't be playing this game unless attending is changed for fighters and until its made impossible to walk trough NPC's en PC's.

Loona, you don't need to complete the attending quests, you can ask the local lord/lady/magristrate to de-attend you without doing the quests. And there is collision now aswell so you can't walk through people.

There is a quote around here where Kanoth's plans for Attending are posted. Also, as posted in another thread, there is player-player player-NPC collision.

    thats complete bullcrap

    Just give the dev's time.

They'll have everything sorted out in a little while, I'm leaving for a week starting tomorrow and I'll be surprised if the game is still in such disarray.

Help me find a game that I'll enjoy!!!

I'm not 100% sure about it but i believe Kanoth hasn't much to say about that .. i know which post you mean and Kanoth only said he 'hoped' it. Never said it was gonna change. Good to hear there is collision now! Still...

    Its Awful because

    A) The economy just started. I mean we needed to build it from teh ground up. because the NPC merchants are limited in variety. Not many things they sell. So getting a decent sword rightnow is gonna cost a small fortune.

    B) The dev team has yet to enable the crafting of other items, Like shields and armour. They are in game, just the code saying we can make it is missing. Infact if you look at the ancient screenshots you will see people with skin tones. But you dont see them now do you?

Dont forget lag. There is a gigantic amount of lag in this game right now. The server tracking is glitchy. Everytime  you run somewhere 5 minutes later you get rubberbanded back to where you started and it spams invalid move in the chat window for the next 10 minutes.

The other night the town merchants were on the run and trying to do anything in the game right now with this lag is almost impossible. I'd get a refund and wait a few weeks until they get the servers stable.

I agree. The lag has been unbearable for the past 2 weeks. I can't wait until it gets back to normal.

Forgive me if I fail to see the logic, but if you are going to wait a few weeks, why not *wait* a few weeks, and get a refund later? You'd just be buying the game twice for no apparent reason. ::::05::

Forgive me, Jorev, but you aren't really being pragmatic; they already have your money, asking for a refund when you are intending to try it again in two weeks *because you are quite sure that in two weeks most issues will be solved* (since if you weren't, you wouldn't be thinking of trying it again in 2 weeks time) is simply making everything more difficult for both you and the developers. It's the same end-result, with a lot of needless steps in between.

You are assuming that everything will be fixed in 2 weeks.

Logically, if they have your money already, there is no urgency involved in fixing the game. They have stated they are not trying to attract more new players atm because they can't handle the ones they currently have. But you see, they are arrogant in the sense they presume they have paying customers already, even though the product is far from complete. Demanding refunds would show them to not take you for granted.

*shrug* I won a free account to this game. Still waiting on this NGW dude to let me know when it's my turn to download and play the game.

    ::::29::

Game looks like it has major teething problems though, which is to be expected.
