thanks
If they wont, Ventrillo ftw!
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Ventrillo is something you have to pay for. Teamspeak works the best out of all the ones i tried. It's free too. You can download it at www.goteamspeak.com.
Voice chat is harder then you think, and with as much stuff as they are promising and with the deadline creeping up they would be very foolish to pull resources to work on a voice chat system. Besides DnD ingame vioce com is horrible quality, Dont be cheap and just get a clan and pull together the 10 bucks to host a Vent or Teamspeak server, they atleast have good quality and u can talk to each other out of game.
Well the one nice thing about DDO is that EVERYONE had the option to turn on voice chat and use it in their party if they wished to, because it was built-into the game. Even those not in the same guilds or circle of friends could use it, as long as you were in the same party. You just had to configure it one time, and then anyone who played DDO could talk to one another in the party.
Ventrilo and Teamspeak both require that the user has it installed on their machine, and if you group with someone who does not have it, then your chat feature is really useless.
Having a built-in chat feature like DDO had makes everything easier because everyone is guaranteed to be using the same program, but of course, if a game does not have built-in chat features then you make due with the others...or none
well in DDO it worked fine with no lad just thought that was the way to go these days but gess not and if its PTP too they should have some tip of ingame chat so we dont have to spend are cash else where.
also when your in a group some tipes you never see that person twice so there no point in getting the teamspeek number ingame one so much simpler i just hoping they will put it in ones they got the game runing how they like then add more too it
Well there is a correction that needs to made here, Vent IS free if you use it in a guild or tribe. I'm also not a big fan of team speek, so that might have somthing to with the fact i like Vent so much better.
Not trying to argue, just stating a fact.
hehe
DDO did have a great in game voice system but many users just didnt understand how to adjust their own mic or volume controls and you always ended up with problems anyways with one or more party members. At least that was always my experience. I heard they eventually added an individual set of volume controls for each party member? But I could be wrong.
Over all voice chats are great for groups that know each other like guilds all using the same voice chat system as part of their raids and guildie groupings. For general pickup groups it's usually more trouble then it's worth.
my 2 copper pieces
IT just means we can have a chat as well as play the game and when something funny happens all you can hear is us laughing.
Looks like i have to us a 3rd party software for that option with is a shame
Voice chat after release would be a nice touch. No sense in choosing to have the things allready promised missing with a voice chat system, get the things allready promised to be in launch done by launch first. The problem is a lot of people would like to speak with others time to time outside guild groups and not all groups can be in guild groups. Having a large guild with a nice vent or ts server will alienate everyone outside of the guld as you only experiance guild members.
Personally, even having a low quality chat that everyone can talk on inside of any group will probabley get more people involved in buying a microphone than just the guild chat system can provide, since now the microphone has more usage power and more value. It also makes it far easier to recruit people into guilds, expecially if they hear your guild members chatting it up inside of the group too; they will want to be part of the family.
I have played LOTR before and the chat system was the one feature I think that helped keep it's playerbase there... If Gods and Heroes implemented one it would definately increase it's subscriptions or at least the subscriptions retained over time. It would definately help hold mine.
