Same question, what are you talking about by "decay"?
Cause durability makes the game realistic. I can't account for DAoC, but it worked nicely in D2 (even though I hate it when my ethereal unique sword breaks in battle with Baal's minions).

Decay means the items start to Decay over time. They start to lose their value. Like in EQ if a body was on the ground for a certain amount of time it would decay away.

I belive i am for decay i havent realy thought about it...
without decay WoW may take after EQ in a bad way if weps/armour doesnt get worse it would flood the market and realy nice weps would be cheap which (at least in EQ) would corrupt the game and lesser the game experience.

This way you'll never get too attached to just one weapon. Will give you the opportunity to try / craft various weapons as well as not to have a surplus of the same weapon in weapon shops.
I'd just like to know the longtivity that your weapon " will " last...

That's a TRUE DAT.
I hope weapons decay after a while, usualy means the weapons aren't as important as how you developed your character. I'd rather lose a battle in PvP because the guy I was fighting had higher skills, a higher level, or specced his talents better... Not because he has more gold than me and bought the uber god slaying sword of uberness. That's what I never liked about D2, the endless hunt for items, and why I could never get into EQ, and why I'm no longer into DAOC (damn artifacts). However if the crafters can make stuff as good/near as good as the stuff you can find, it's not such an issue. I just hate having to item hunt.
Yet, even if WoW does put a fair deal of importance on items, I have a feeling it won't be as annoying, because it sounds like you get better items from QUESTS as opposed to camping one monster spawn for 6 frickin' hours waitin' for a certain monster to spawn so that he'll drop that certain bow you've been waiting for.

Well I would like to have the Item Decay. But....I would like it to be like it to be either like EQ's where if an item breaks its not gone forever, you can just take it to the BlackSmith and get it fixed. Or have it to where if the durability goes down to '0' it will break and will be gone. So you must fix it when it is at say, '1' durablility or higher. When ever you chose to get it fixed so it wont break.
All i have to say about item decay is that I hate it, but i couldn't live without it. I hate having to either get new armor or have it fixed, but it makes the game a little bit better in that you know that you can't rely on your sword all the time. I haven't read anything about it being in WoW, but i do hope they add that element in their somewhere.
On first thought decay is good for the realistic element and the fact that items don't control the game but will making things decay really do that? or will it just add an extra annoyance to the game. My Uber item decays - now i have to get it fixed or I have to redo a long quest to get it again. Or will it just cause me to use up a couple of extra slots in my inventory having extra of whatever item i'm concerned about? When items are tied to your level aka. DAoC then decay away who cares once I level i'll be getting some other weapon/armour anyway - in Asheron's Call 1 things didn't decay but with tinkering and the vast amount of different items you sorta stuck with your favorite Uber item or changed when new ones came out, either way it seemed to work out ok. I guess we'll have to wait for the Beta and see which Blizzard implements and if it works to add realism or ends up just be an annoyance or irrelevant.
I voted no decay but it really is a hard decision. How about the item decays but when you take it back and repair it at a smith or tailor or whatever then it is back to normal. In other words, the repairs will be necessary and you will eventually have to repair instead of staying in the field but the items don't break. In DAoC items eventually break and I really don't like it. It cheapens the feel to me. Especially with the new artifacts that also break and you can never get them again once they do. What kinda crap is that? They made these artifacts required to play your class (stealth lore anyone?) but once they break you have to be worse off than a new to level 50 stealther who just got his artifacts? LAME.

decay as in lower in durability and break? Well, it worked in DAOC.
