    What else do you expect?

Back when i played and would get noobspammed, i'd say a few Italian sentences that i got from the babelfish online translator. Throw in a few questions marks, emote a /shrug, and they moved on to the next vitctim. Worked everytime.

My favorite phrase was, "ottengali via da me animale ripugnante." Which translates to, "Get away from me you filthy animal."

Lol, what server are you on? Then again it really doesn't matter, every server will have its immaturity. Even the so called Rp servers which are "suppose" to be more mature but they have there problems to.

You know.  With all the stupid and everything.

The pink really should have tipped me off though.

Considering WoW is aimed at the younger less mature audiences im not suprised at your problems. Of course this is in most games nowerdays.

The best game for this tho where it seems either there are very few such people or you have an easy way to block them from talking to you ever is EvE.

My advice tho is to try and ignor those people tho or make up a funny game [shrugs], i cant really make any gaming sujestions tho as ive never encountered this problem much in my games [exept when i played WoW].

WoW isn't aimed towards a "younger less mature" audience.

It's aim was toward casual players of all ages.

Sorry should have specified Younger less mature and casual gamers.

Reason i think this is that WoW was indeed aimed at the mass market to make it easier to sell so the game had to be dumed down so that it was easier to learn to play and easier to do well in the modern market [ a bit like American idol aka manufactured music].

Also by making the graphics basic and cartoony not only have they made it easier for most PC's to run but its seen by parents to be child friendly because its cartoony and not gory and full of scantly clad women and men with big wepons.

Unfortunatly tho this has meant that a lot of young people with parents can get into this game easier making it less atractive to those whop are a bit older/Mature. Now this wont stop all mature people playing the game as they can just ignore any Leet DooDz and get on with the game. Also another bad side affect to all this is that there is almost no content other than leveling and Raiding and it seems that the game is also centred around getting the next Big bit of loot which is very lazy.

Perhaps i have been spoilt by other MMO'S out there or perhaps i am right well i probably will never know but those are my reasons for saying what i did.

EDIT: Also id like to point out that the casual gamer as you put it is usually those who dont have a job aka the younger less Mature of us AKA children.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I actually agree with you.   The game sold so much and became so popular because of its accessibility and ease.  Most people say WoW made no innovations to the mmorpg genre, but I think that really counts as something new it added (whether you think it's bad or good).  That's why there are so many kids playing, and why the community leaves so much to be desired.

I however, don't really agree that the graphics were made "cartoony" in order to appeal to kids, although I do think it actually has.  WoW's graphics are based on the previous RTS games, which are based on the Warhammer Tabletop game.  All these previous sources were heavily based on exaggerated/over the top artwork, and if WoW came out looking ultra-realistic (complete with the high-polygon plastic-looking toons of other MMO's) it wouldn't be Warcraft.  Besides, it's a pretty humorous game, and the cartoony elements just add to that aspect.

Your definition of casual gamer might be true, but Blizzard (in the beggining) didn't market the game to kids with no jobs.  They actually marketing to the "casual gamer" who could only spend a few hours online at a time, but wanted to feel like they accomplished something.  That's why it's so easy to lvl up.

Maybe because no one cares? Often, typing "he" is a generic term, I've called plenty of male members she's, not a single one has cared.

    Get over yourself.

Scar... It's mind numbing, at this point, to read your posts. I really don't get why I still do. It stands to reason though, you really need to go back to ToonTown because Im seriously thinking that is the ONLY MMO you'll ever enjoy.

    Period.

BUT... For arguments sake, choose your sever wisely, that's about the best thing you can ever do. If you go to a pure-pvp server thats fairly young, your going to hit the kids, especially in the newbie areas. It's all common sense really, something one would figure you would have picked up after "so many" years of experience you cliam to have in MMO's... *cough* *cough*

    ...right !

I have been dealing with that since EQ 1, that is nothing new nor is it WoW only.

    What a lot of ....?

Have you ever raided in WoW?

Certainly not aimed at casual players, try 4-6 evenings a week to get anywhere.

Sure there is soloable easy going content around but WoW caters for all.

Raiding in WoW is very very difficult and complex, try it sometime before you talk about a subject with no knowledge or did you give up at 5th level... (or even played the game for that matter)

As for "younger less mature", most people in my guild are 25 years old and above, ranging to 46 year old (the oldest). Even saw a guild called "old n wise" the other day.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

I re installed EQ2 yesterday and got a level 9 monk now, but the first person i met invited me to a group and then he invited another dude. They start saying usless stuff and start going on about pokemon then i ask them how old they were and they were both 8.
But i know the majority of EQ2 is mature players i cant base my judgements until i reach the level cap and try other servers and gather a general feedback of not just me but other players before i can say whether it's a game with immature people or not.

And sometimes immaturity is confused with humour. Ok well and truly it's the "mature" thing not to do anything silly and not joke about but cmon, it's pretty sad not to have a laugh once in a while. Which is what alot of world of warcrafters do. They 'piss abouit' just for a laugh amongst themselves, this is not immaturity. Immaturity is being impatient, crying at everything small and not taking criticisms etc, which alot of people are seeming to forget.

because casual players spend 40+ hours a week raiding?

wow was ADVERTISED initially for casual players.... when every patch (except ONE, dire maul) is only for RAID groups, that pretty much took away the casual player part of it.

thought you played wow?   kinda hard to miss this point if you've played for more than a month or so.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

I'm going to ignore your childish antagonist attitude, and simply advice you read the second page of this thread.  I simply said it was marketed as a casual game, not that it actually was one.  Besides, the beginning 1-60 grind IS still very casual.

In what other games can you level up so quickly.  In what other games can you get cool-looking armor and weapons before hitting lvl 15?  I'm not talking about end-game here, which everyone admits is either a huge grind, raiding for hours on end, or a combination of both.

hmm, in red is what i replied to... don't see any of what you're talking about in the thing i quoted and replied to...   um, yeah, drive thru please.

edited to add the orange.  what kind of advice are you giving me?   is it some sort of loose advice?

You said, "because casual players spend 40+ hours a week raiding?" when I said the game was advertised as a casual game.

And I responded by telling you that I never said it was a casual game.  I only said it was advertised as one.

Don't know how to say it any differently.
