I wouldn't say both are great...I would recommend Horizons though. In all reality, I would recommend you get neither and wait for one of the Big 4 to come out, but since you said between those two I would go for Horizons.
::Yordo:: EQ2 Guild Search UXO, Lineage 2, KO, Guild Wars, Dragon Empires, City of Heroes
neither of them are great. Im sorry but sony has messed up on swg. Its ok though because eventually they will redeem themselves im sure. Horizons isnt great either but if your gonna get one or the other go for Horizons. In a year or two many who play swg will prolly have gotten sick of it and no one will be there anymore.
You may want to wait I mean,,,, everquest 2, pirates of the burning sea, lineage 2, guild wars...they all look really good.
Cant comment on SWG, but Horizons is a blast. Needs some fixing, but It has potential.
Personally Im waiting for City of Heroes. That game is gonna set some standards!

Aye, CoH is high on my list also, gonna be a blast.

I did not care for either game but if it was me I would choose swg over horizons. SWG has alot better character custumization and clothing weapons in the game and there was enough content in the game to keep you busy for a couple months. Horizons has very little customization, the human, dwarf and giants faces all look the same . The weapons look the same at lvl 1 that you will be using at lvl 100 and same with the armor, just not much to choose from. As far as the crafting goes, I think swg is just as good as horizons if not better in my opinion. I read alot about how great the crafting was in horizons and it is better than the old rpg but so is swg, SWG had some broken crafters in it when i played, maybe they are fixed now, I havent played for 6 months
Actually the level 1 and level 100 weapons and armor in Horizons look nothing alike. I will admit that there is a definite lack of customization atm, but that is going to change, very soon weapons will be custimizable by the crafter and then after that sometime armor will be.

Horizons is the best. They started out a bit earlier than they should have, and it took them awhile to get on top of the basic issues the game had. But they are improving daily as far as customer support.
I love the crafting system. You actully have steps to perform to craft. Not just buying resources and pushing enter fifty times.
All is all I think I will be playing Horizons for a long time to come.

I played both games. SWG did not get past my first month of play. The game really has no content to speak of. I can not say what the current state of the game is ...but inorder to get a force sensative spot you have to gimp your only chracter?
Horizons on the other hand I played since release and it still has my interest. Granted as with anygame there will be bugs...but I have to say Horizons hands down over SWG.
Weapons and armor de look exactly the same as far as models goes, only color changes, wich in my book is a real lazy way of making armor and weapons look different.

Kunou,
Sadly though its a case of "too little too late"
Horizons for lack of better terms is BAD. Compared to all the other MMOs I have played, I have to say that HZ is the worst of the bunch. Granted I never played AO at its release, or WWII Online, and I hate the Sims, but of the others, Horizons has so many problems graphically and mechanically, as well as the most horrible customer service, and lack of content, that a new appearance of a character's armor or weapons is like wrapping a present in pretty paper, only to find a pair of used unwashed socks within.
I know a bunch of people that have tried Horizons, from other games I have played, or still play, that have like me, cancelled thier accounts, and will more than likely never play again.
Its sad really. For all that was expected out of HZ, just a snippet was granted while the rest tossed aside like moldy cheese

I played SWG for 3 months and Horizons for 2 months, and quite frankly both get boring real fast. SWG I had friends to keep me in it for that extra month, but with Horizons I finally got enough money to build a house, but there's ZERO commerical or industrial land plots left to buy. Which is actually a good thing because I would've probably wasted another month or two building the house. But, cancelling my account and going to wait for the next new lame mmorpg. The reason I say 2-3 months is a short time for a game is I played UO for 2 years, EQ for 4 years, and DAOC for 1 year. Is anyone going to make a next gen mmorpg that'll keep things interesting for more than 3 months???
consider this, In HZ you can start and play a Dragon, ( lets be real - This has to be one of the biggest attractions besides the graphics), In SWG the attraction is to be a Jedi. But wait you can't start as a Jedi., Better of with Knights of the Old Republic then with SWG

Why wait?
I can't comment on SW:G, but Horizons is a pretty good game. Read the RPG Vault review...it sums it up pretty nicely.

If you wait to do something until the last minute, your more efficient since it will only take 1 minute.
