Curse you Funcom...

At first I discounted this game, I'm of the age in which poor eye hand co-ordination combined with the lack of mental motor skills cause me to lose horribly in PvP games to younger players. But after countless time at the website I figured this game looks darned good. So I sat down and figured... if I did a healer I could avoid the "which way did they go" of combat... building the guild villages/towns/cities looked really neat....and it sure would be nice to build a siege engine or two, or three....next thing you know I'm down at Borders spending $45 on Conan books to get the flavor of the setting. I'm as excited as a sailor in a whorehouse with a credit card, but I have to wait 6 friggin months to play!

Had pretty much the same effect on me too :p

On the one hand Id like to play the damn thing NOW, but I also dont want them to mess up rushing it

Don't you think Funcom learned enough from their release of AO?
    Let's hope so.

I'd have to agree, they are doing a great job so far putting this game together. My first impression was "I don't want to play some guy in a nappy" but after I started reading about it, I can't stop. I've also bought a few books to get an idea of the setting so you're not alone there ::::20::

I am a girl, so I am the same way.  So when I see the movie and see how it was done... it didn't look that hard.

I'm still going to play a healer.  Keep all those kiddies alive.

Conan books are fantastic! If AoC is only a tenth as good as those books, then its gonna be a superb game!

PS: welcome to the old age

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Well Conan books have been written by many different people.  Unfortunately their will never be another Robert E. Howard.  Some of the other authors did a good job, but Howard's are the real deal.

I hope their aren't too many people who play the game who just assume Conan was some crap fantasy and understand that it was landmark that has withstood the test of time.

This game will never compare to some of Howard's first stuff, but if they capture the spirit of it well then that will be enough.

A collection of the original Howard stories is what I bought, and I agree they are good. I hope they capture this in the game, the sense of adventure and suspense is fantastic. The abandoned cities, demons, and stuff give me a sense of awe, besides the PvP, crafting, and building, the exploration, discovery, and "wow look at that" factor is something I anticipate. Actually, as I read his books, I look so foreward to the "sense of high adventure"....
