Coming from SWG, this game has been a godsend so far. I have been only playing about two weeks, but the fact that the quests actually make you feel like you accomplished something, and everything not being bugged to hell has been wonderful.
I think that one of the keys to FFXI is playing around during your trial period. Find out what class and job you like before settling in on a character. The first character you create may not necessarily been the one you stick with. I have a THF, WAR, and RDM. Also had a BLM, and a MNK. I am finding tha playing my WAR has been the most fun due to the extreme amount of weapons that you can use.
Making money has not been a problem for me in this game. In fact, if I had any complaint, it would be to increase the number of items you can place at the AH to like 10. I have tons of stuff in my house just waiting to be put on sale.
I recommend anyone that is looking for a new gaming experience at least give FFXI a shot for the trial month.
