You can download the Uru Live from Gametap.
I honestly don't know the requirements yet.
If you just signed up for beta you may have to wait a while seeing as its first come first serve. But the first beta testing is starting this week sometime.
The game is about the discovery of an ancient underground city. As an explorer, you travel through the city, meet fellow explorers, and visit the worlds that the D'ni civilization linked to. Uru is an adventure game and will focus on exploration, puzzles, and community.

You can buy the stand alone version of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst at many brick and mortar stores still. It is also usually available on Ebay and many online shops.
Go to This Link and try GameTap for 1 month free, where you can download Uru, along with hundreds of other games from various platforms. Be aware, though, that when Uru does go Live, that you will have to start from the beginning (as will everyone else). Playing Uru now will give you a feel for what is to come.
For a taste of Live, you can join Until Uru. This is an online version of Uru where you can interact with other players, but it doesn't have any new content added from the stand alone game. It's a great way to get aquainted with the community.

They haven't announced system requirements yet but are working on making it playable on as many systems as possible. For now I think you will need a newer PC with XP 512 meg of ram and a decent video card. { 64 meg mem or more } More is definately better.
You can download the installer now at the uru live web site here if you are signed up for beta. Read the forums while you're there. There is a special Game Tap link there where you can signup for Game Tap at a substantial discount. If you aren't signed up for beta testing you will have to wait for the official release at Game Tap Some time in December. Plus while your waiting for URU to be released you can play hundreds of other games including Myst. They have just about any type of game and up to 7 people can play on one account so the whole family can get in on the action.
Both URU Live and Game Tap require a high speed connection. Satalite broadband or DSL is sufficient, Cable Broadband is preferred as some of the downloads are rather large and all games at Game Tap are downloadable. { no extra per game charge }
