hm... don't mean to sound mean or anything, but if your previous clans were from RTS, it's very different from MMORPG's. MMORPG clans/guilds are based on people you meet and friends you make as you play.(most RTS clans let people who are good in, doesn't work that way in mmorpg)
Also, know that if you want to be the only leader in a MMORPG, you better re-think, good MMORPG clan/guilds tend to go up to hundreds of members some reaching thousands.
Oh yea, also you know your gonna have to play hours and hours of this everyday, if you want to be the only leader, people who out level you will want to leave or challenge for leadership, etc. (oh yea, talk about having to spend hours talking to new members, especially if they don't know how to play the game)
as for the thousands of member, im not going for the biggest amount i can get nor wish to pay hundreds per year on a guild site tht most of the bandwidth goes to 1 timers to the site repeatedly. id rather prefer a group of close friends who play together and fight along side each other. im talking about 50 members max not hundreds. i wont have tht many spots on my wow friends list as for guilds? it has been determined you are a little more dependant on them than u think since you cant solo all the monsters (i have read alot of alpha material) anyways i will post my new announcement below let me know if you have any questions or comments by replying to it
Announcement:
Im proud to announce that we have opened recruiting for our guild again and are looking for new members, our site is now officially finished, both diplomatically and visually. i have already chosen some of the leaders for our guild who show both great leadership as well as skills as leaders in games and MMORPG skills. We dont just let everyone into our guild. sure you can sign up during the recruitment period but if we dont accept your application you will be deleted shortly after but are given a short time to redeem yourself before we do.
we also have everythign sorted out when it comes to the guild structure but things like groupings or arrangments within the guild during the game are open to members to suggest along with anything else and are given fair chance to be voted on as well. along with a regular weekly meeting via IRC and most members connected via msn or aim we have close contacts with every member. to actualyl view our mandates, statements, code and rules please direct your browser to: http://www.lordsofthemist.com
we update regularly and will be password protecting the site again as soon as we have achieved additional approved recruits who have applied. thanks and dont forget to visit us!
as a memebr of the guild i can say its full of good people. Theres a guild meeting tonight on our irc room at 8pm est. tonight feel free to stop by and meet some ppl.
good luck with your guild dude. i hope it all works out, but you also need to listen to what some of the people who where trying to help ya out, and not just slam on you. there is no comparison to a mmorpg guild and rts clan. i have been in both for many years. I have seen good ppl try to do the same thing you are doing. some have suceeded, and others have failed. i would seriously try to find atleast a couple of ppl you can really depend on that have mmorpg experience to help ya out in the beginning. well like i said good luck. i plan to make a guild with all the people i play with now that move with me, and after i find out how the game works we will make decisions on where we will go from there.
Drakol "you can't be right all the time. thats why i'm here."-Drakol
as i have stated before i may have only run a clan in RTS but i have played mmorpg and been in various guilds. the point im making is that there is absolutely no difference in the system of command, just the way you portray your rules and systems of doing things. im not going to go into specifics here. if you dont think i know what im talking about check out our code of honour at http://www.lordsofthemist.com
Like many other have said you have no clue what you are getting into, and it clear show by your response to their advice. I know becuase I played RTS for many year, and a year and a half ago I started playing MMORPG (EQ). It took me a while to get use to how different MMORPG realy are. I was in probaly 8 guild in 2 months. The reason for leaving the guild was levels of character. I would join and before long out level everyone in the guild. I did not stop guild hopping tell I made it into an elite guild. The guild had over 100 member and 5 leaders. You also had a 1 month waiting period where you were last in any loot considering before you even became a member.
Flame Time:
1. To be elite guild you need to have people that know how to play which is only done from abserving first hand when the game come out.
2. One leader omg it will never work that all that need to be said.
3. A web page does not make a MMORPG like it does for an RTS showing how little you know.
Flame off
I could think of a million more, but I don't think they would help you if you cant take the advice of all these other people. Dame people like you bring out the bad side of me. Hope it works for you, but dont get mad when it doesn't.
Theres a quote that goes something like "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it". I don't know why so many people are flaming here.
1. Fair enough we haven't played the game yet, either have the other thousands of guilds out there. It doesn't mean it won't work.
2. You have no idea how complex'd the leadership is in the guild, the one leader you refer to is the founder, theres a group of about 10 people with high leadership positions.
3. A webpage is a webpage, i fail to see how it makes a difference for an RTS either.
The other issue raised is of MMORPG experience in the guild, don't worry there is plenty of it, i don't think theres a single person who hasn't played a mmorpg.

It's like a bunch of sissy's came in and went boo boo boo to the person showing off his Guild
Plus for those who are scratching their heads thinking its stupid to have a guild way before the game is releases, SWG had it the same way.
Two of the most powerful PA in one server were powerful and popular as they had their guild opened for 7 months before the game was released. So ,yes, its been done numerous times.
Give the guy a chance and get of your god-pedastoole and be nice to him.
BTW Pheonix, your website link doesnt work
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
we are having a meeting this sunday in our irc channel irc.enterthegame.com #lotm stop by at 8 PM EST for an hour meeting or so. maybe afterwards we can play some TFT its a good way to listen in on our discussions and find more about the guild.
i dont really think thats relevant here. the fact that you advertise in other threads is very offensive this is not the way to recruit and i dont think your leader would appreciate it.
I've always been amazed at the ability people have to build "Elite" guilds on paper. How's your guild elite if you basically take everyone in, don't even make a selection based on people's gameplay, and worst of all have no achievement to show for because the game isn't even out yet. Maybe you're confusing the adjectives socialist and elite.

lol thats not even proper grammer first off lol hehe lurkster that wasnt neccessary but was funny
i hate how people accuse you of something before letting you answer. sigh... questions are fine insults are not sulfer. as for not being able to have a good guild without seeing the players first? is it really about having a good guild or having fun. personally amoung thousands of others, sure its fun to win but its more fun to have fun doing it. i want a guild of members who get along, work hard and strive to do their best. everyone makes mistakes and we wont let that get in our way. think of it this way we are creating a big family friendship where we expect the best we all can do but dont riddicule or hold a grudge since were all family members. say what u will and even if in game we are the worst guild ever and i mean EVER and have the worst scores i will still walk away happy. cause as long as we have fun and work hard its been worth it. that being said by working hard and tying together good friendships is what makes us elite and in doing so we will most definately be powerful and well known for those qualities to improve each others weaknesses. check out our code of honour before you say anymore b4 u reply sulfer otherwise its not worth your time or ours.
Let me get this straight: You're post saying you are creating an ELITE guild. I have no problem with you posting on any kind of forum you are creating a guild and are recruiting. However, when you do use the adjective ELITE you put forth a system of value.
Think about anything that is elite in real life, like universities or a special unit force. Well, do they jsut take anyone in on a first come first serve basis? Hell no. They select a group of people through a standard, then through trial they make a cut. Additionally, in order to really qualify as elite you need to prove yourself through some sort of achievements.
Bottom line, when a guild accept just about anyone and their mother based on a fun factor, that guild is in no way elite.
A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status.
frankly the dictionary agrees with me so i think the discussion has ended. we are superior in intelligence since most of the members are univeristy/college graduates and are mature and respectful. and we have a superior social community since we have one for something that doesnt exist and if you havent noticed we have an application you need to submit before you can join the guild. (site is down for an hour while we move our server)
Well that slogan is at best deceptive, at worst something really stinky, take your pick. I Don't see how being a college/university graduate make you superior in any way. Some schools, just like your guild have application forms and take about everyone that will apply and pay their fees. Again NOT SELECTIVE.
I find it rather funny that the only elements in my post you are able to denigrate are my approximative use of the English grammar. Well take a wild guess. Yeah bingo, I'm bilingual and English is my second language.
You want to build an elite guild for WoW and live up to your slogan, here is how you do it: You play the game for a while, get to know the game really well. You gather the people that have impressed you in that game with their gameplay and personality and you recruit them in your guild. You start taking on challenges and through your mastering of the game you finally prove yourself.
Now you can go back to your most common guild and enjoy your day.
this is a recruitment thread not an arguing thread if your not interested thats your choice. let others make their own decision based on our guild without you telling them how they should view it. thanks.
I got a kick out of the irony of this when I clicked to enter the site:
The members of the Lords Of The Mist Guild, while fun loving, are mature and easy-going, unlike many people playing MMORPG's these days. The Lords Of The Mist Guild is a paradise to those who have been looking for a solid guild for a long time; but is unfortunately nothing to those who do not meet our requirements. While the clan may be tough to join, once you have, World Of Warcraft will never be the same.
