Some people play golf non-stop. Some people like to drive and waste gas. Some people like to swim. Some people like to go for walks. Some people even like to... *Gasp* Play games AND do all the other things I've said.
Yes, there's a few kids who will play this game like any other... 15+ hours a day, but it's like that in any MMORPG.
Then what do you do in these forums if you dont play mmorpgs?
Blade with whom i have lived, blade with whom I now die. Serve right and justice one last time. Seek one last heart of evil. Still one last life of pain. Cut well old friend. Then farewell!

I wish I could spend 15+ hours playing games. My life would be complete.

orrly? and what game do you suggest we play that wont "eat up our life"? Mr. muffdiver
because with a name like "muffdiver" i know i will get nothing but great wisdom in response to my question.

not really
First, there is no such thing as endless hours. We all have a finite amount of time. Second, I get out lots. Camping, roadtrips, dates, sporting events, hiking, movies, plays, you get the idea. I have a full time job, a girlfriend, friends and family and I like to hit the links once a week.
I also will play Vanguard.
It is interesting how people will flame over how long you spend doing something you enjoy (i.e. play games) but seem to not bother with you spending lots of time on things you are forced to do (i.e. work). If you like to game- why is it so bad to do so? Why not mention the fact you spend hours doing your RL job and start flaming that as well?

I don't understand why the orininal text was even posted. Like other people are saying, gaming is entertainment. Other things, as well, are entertainment. I, myself, game a lot, but it doesn't eat away at my life. I have a boyfriend, a job, I play sports, and even go out every once in a while. Some other people may not do other things in or with their lives, but it's their choice to game 24/7. It's their entertainment.
But if you want to keep thinking that it will eat away someone's life, it wouldn't be just this game. Any game out there, not even just MMORPGS, could be considered a life eater. When I picked up Oblivion, I played for 4 days straight and couldn't put it down.
But you know what? I also do that with books... would books be considered something that eats away my life?
I'm sorry but your argument has no substance, in my mind that is.
Thanks for listening--
The MMO market is not what it used to be. Once upon a time, pretty much everyone played the same MMO. Those MMOs touted very large subscriber bases. However the market for MMOs has almost literally exploded, and as we enter into what many are calling the 3rd generation MMOs, you will see the subscriber model changing quite drasticly. You will see more niche games. Companies will still of course love to be the holders of massive subscriber bases, but will be content to ffer more niche games where they have "enough" subscribers. You will have companies like SOE looking to provide many various niche games giving them the best of both worlds.
Vanguard may or may not be the game for you. If it isn't, then that is fine. Its a niche game. In this so called 3rd generation of MMOs there will be TONS of games to choose to play, and if vanguard isn't it for you then go try one of the other many ones coming out.

This post singlehandely derailed the thread. Good post. /end discussion.

QFT man! I know how you feel. I got college also, so that means I got hours of studies and work I got to do before gameplay, and I'm not the one who skips class.
Vanguard is going to be perfect for me though. I think what most people expect when you get on a MMO is that you want to LEVEL the whole time. Not me. I get on to enjoy the game. I'll explore, chat with players in there and RP. When i do have the time, I will quest and level up. But why rush things.
People need to realize that we arn't here for the game, the game is here for us.
