The Ultimate Rumor (also my last post ever regarding LA/SONY and SWG).

ShucklesShuckles Member Posts: 158
This is sort of my good bye post to all, I am copying and pasting it to the forums I read and participate in.  I am 100% done with them all (LA, SONY, SWG).  Thought I would give you all one last fun rumor to dig into, if you are bored you will have a lot of fun researching this...I did.

Here it is in a nutshell:  VERANT devleopers = SWGEMU developers

Not completely sure if all the guys that were Verant are away from SOE or not, but wouldn't that be a juicy one?  And Verant guys are the ones pretty much responsible for the core of the SWG people love.  And Verant = SWGEMU guys would be the ONLY way in hell LA would have anything to do with SWGEMU.

My opinion?  Nah.  Verant sold out.  SOE screwed it up.  SWGEMU guys are realizing it is not gonna happen and fishing for jobs.  The players are still taking forever to come to the inevitable conclusion that I am now at.  I am done, because it is done.  Had fun with all of you, but I got to go, got things to see and people to do.

ps...I quit cold turkey LA, SONY, SWG, Cigarettes, Mary Jane, Alchohol, and a couple unmentionables...but SWG was the hardest of all.  Clean since the NGE.

    Sorry, I've seen the code.

While valiant efford, it doesn't hold out to the quality of someone who has coded in the industry before. Especially not someone who delivered software as Verant did.

Furthermore, if they had anything to do with products Verant developed, they wouldn't have made the mistakes in the code they did with regard to data organization and similar.

But you've not actually seen the pre-CU SWG code, so I don't think you really have a basis for comparison.  It could have been exactly the same as the Duck's code.

    @Shuckles:

Were it true, I have no doubt it would have been playable long before now.  But, points for uniqueness.  Good one to go out on, pal.

They wrote it. Most of it at least. The rest comes from eq and wow emus.

I will not be done for a LONG time. Since the CU and the lost of my game, my joy comes from keeping these forums truthful and spreading the contempt towards $OE and the scabs that still play. So basically I am here to make the world a better place.

I can feel the hatred growing within you!  You are strong with The Contempt!  It shall make you more powerful than any SOE Shill!

    /Cheers

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever :)

principal work on the 3d engine itself was done by brian hook, formerlly of id software (and one of the original key open gl developers at silicon grapics). by principal i mean brian was only at soe a few months before he got pissed off about the way things are run and left. im told he also did some of the early code for the planetside engine as well. not much you can do in 3-4 months tho given the scope of a 3d engine codebase wise.the other bulk of the original verant devs are all working on vanguard. including verant founder Brad McQuaid.

so yeah Sigil Games is basically the new verant.

check out their whos who list at http://www.sigilgames.com/team.html
