I think the first in the EQ2 beta will be long time legends subscribers, and once they are in (about 100) it will not be long till the long time EQ subscribers get access to EQ2beta3 slots (~3k.) After that it should be the open beta (5 - 20k) for stress testing the last month or two befor retail, mayby late 04. Very doubtfull SOE will go to the extreme lengths Verrant did in beta testing EQ, alpha in '97, and beta throughout '98, then retail mar '99.
Soe has so far pushed the EQ2beta back from sept '03 to now sometime early 04 and got the EQ subscribers to pay to beta test the instancing in EQ2 with the ldon retail. With the ongoing loss of old time EQ devs leaving SOE for Sigil, it's a wonder what kind of game EQ2 will be compared to EQ .

EQ legends will be the first part of beta, i think.  It hasn't started yet or they haven't released any info to the public.  Everyone's hopin that beta get kicks off though because it only lasts several months.

If I was in Beta, I wouldn't be able to talk about it.

I really don't think anyone in there right mind would say if they were in beta.  That would be against SOE's NDA policy or what ever NDA they signed when they get into EQII beta.

I no I wouldn't say, from fear of getting banned from beta testing.  I don't think beta has begun yet though.

Got my GoD expansion beta invite. Seems now the test / beta server is going mandatory DX9 (EQ2) but so far the EQ api is still only DX8 coded.. it goes to DX9 with EQ2. Into my GoD 15 hr initial update patch... but its mostly a lvl +50 expansion and the berserker class.
Still no word from the "SERIOUSLY" underpopulated legends people as to if any are in EQ2beta1 yet.
And there is a definate increase in the dissatisfaction with EQCS. Of which there will be even less in EQ2 (no Guides.) GM still try and convince people there are full time GM(s) on each and every server... but player complaints are increasing like 4X about non-responce about the trash-can destined emergency email system for those unable to even get a responce about their petitions in que.
It amazes me that having 3 full time GMs on each of the 43 servers (provided they could get that many in san dieago where all GMs are required to reside) would only cost SOE about $3M/ yr. About half of a single month's subscription (400k X $13 = $5.2M) and over the year with EQ pulling in +$60M net it is a shame they refuse to pony up and hire more GMs to resolve the petition case load or else give the Guides back the power to fix many of the mundane problems!

Ok, I see what you guys are saying.  SOE probably did say that anyone who is in the EQ2 beta is not allowed to say anything.
