Anyone who is currently playing knows exaclty what I mean when I say "Hackside".. One of the most important aspects of a FPS and expecially a MMO is that you insure that you game is free of Hacks, exploits, cheat, etc as much as possible and that you take a proactive approach to stoping them. That was my major complaint about Blizzard before they launched WOW... Everyone who has played any of there other games (Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft) knows what im talking about when I say that. There games had more hacks then any I have ever seen... But I must give Blizzard credit, for the most they kept WOW hack, exploit free and came down hard on Hackers and for that I applaud them...
Which brings me to SOE..... All through the history of Panetside SOE has shown they could really careless about the hacks that people use in this game... Since I have been playing from Aug 03 hacking/cheating has always been a problem in this game and SOE has taken a slow appraoch to fixing this problem..While hacking and SOE slow stance and finding these hackers/hacks and getting rid of them has been slow it has never really become game breaking and as bad as it is to date.
Since I resubed a few days ago I have seen more hackers in these 5 days then I have seen im my entire 3 years of playing this game and its extremly fustrating and irratating. Just to list a few examples of what I have seen
1. There is a VS character on Emerald named Purplegreen that flys through the air like a Plane, now many will say "A plane? well Planetside does have planes you know".... Yeah thats true but the only problem here is that when he is flying he is a freaking cloaker who is tossing grenades of people... I have seen this dude do this to many times to count and I was told that he has been reported for months now and nothing has happend...
2. Fought a TR Max that had the ability to teleport...Now I know many will say it probably was the connection or you do know that PS coding allows alot of people to warp. I know what warping is, after all I have played this game for 3 years which includes the days of Surgeside, this was not warping though this dude was teleporting all around me.. If anyone played Diablo 2 back in the day imagine a TR max that can teleport like a mage and thats what he was doing.
3. TR and NC were at a stand still the other day TR were assualting us and the NC were hoding them off for about a good hour or so... All of a sudden someone is attacking our generator, oh well we all know that happens probably a cloaker got in or something or a BD breach no biggie.. Well I run down (with serveral others to go see whats the deal) and open the Gen door expecting to find the enemy in there and to kill them...Imagine my suprise though when I open the door and the enemy just happens to be in a freaking Liberator... Thats right I said a LIBERATOR, which for those of you who do not know much about this game, is a freaking PLANE inside the gen room of the freaking base. WTF?!!?!!!!
I could go on and on about what I have seen like the guy that killed 40 people in a damn skeeter even though we were hitting him with decis, AA fire, small arms fire, AA???? and had no effect on him.. at all... Or I could talk about the COF hack that alot of the TR use that allows there weapons to have no Cone of Fire bloom, AT ALL(that has been around for 2 years at least)... But ill just stop and say that SOE have failed there community, hell what else is new.
So for those of you thinking about giving this game a whirl, I would suggest you go play Counter Strike. It has just as many hacks, but alteast it is free. For those of you that need confirmation about what im talking about just head over to the Planetside main forums to see what im talking about.. Alot of people are fed up with it.
Hell I'll make it easier for those who dont want to go to the Official site to see all the complaints.

The thread you link to is about an exploit, not a hack. shield gets bugged at zero, no amount of damage can remove zero points of shield... shield stays up, no damage inflicted - think that's how it works. apparently it's possible to intentionally produce this effect, but i don't know how. still an exploit though.
The percieved number of cheaters is far greater than the actual number - for myself, i hadn't noticed any great increase until everyone started SAYING there had been a massive increase... and that began a vicious cycle, people thinking "well if everyone else is doing it..."
there were people teleporting LLUs six months ago. there was talk of libs and teleporting MAXes dropping gens aaround the TWO year anniversary. the no-CoF cheat has been apparently going on for months, going on years - which i can well believe; there hasn't been any massive jump in TR accuracy recently...
not to say it's excuseable just because it has been going on for so long; they have three severs, i would have thought SOME of our sub fee might be spared to hire enough CSRs to have at least one on per server all the time, and the fact that they still haven't done anything about the Dual Core issue is outragious... but you can play for days without coming across such a blatant cheater. Cheating is a problem, but the perception that cheating is permissable is as much of a problem as the cheats themselves. if they had done an RFO, publicly humiliated and banned a few cheaters - or even announced that they were doing about the problem and explained what they were doing about it... but no, nothing more than a "we are looking into that issue..."

The reason your're seeing far more obvious hacks as of late is because
one single disgrunted ex player from Werner (whos name I wont mention
otherwise a simple google search of him takes you right to the hack
tools download)
became disgruntled and decided to write a nice simple hack tool for the game which then he released to the public.
This tool allows for a few specific hacks which can totally trash gameplay.
Jump and Run - this is what lets players "fly" in anything. Be it a vehicle/max or just infantry.
Tower teleport- using preset coords of a tower a player can teleport
themselves to the bottom or top of the tower instantly. Easily killing
anyone inside because they have no idea which direction they will come
from.
Teleporting - Every base and such in the game has coords. Players
using this hack can teleport themselves no matter what they are in
(max/vehicle) directly into base gens/tubes.
Cof hack - Actually an old hack for planetside but intergrated into this hacking tool so that now everyone has access to it.
The tool has no built in speed hack of any kind, thats just the same ol
dual core exploit, which sony has announced anyone in game caught
abusing it will be banned, who knows if they ever are.
Thats the gist of what this tool does.
This is why lately you have seen LLU's instantly captured (base coord teleport hack)
This is why you walk into a gen only to find an enemy in a lib blowing it. (Teleport hack again)
Also happens to be why lately you've seen NC/TR AA maxes hovering at
the flight ceiling owning every plane in sight. (jump and run hack)
It also didn't help that some idiot posted the main page of this
hacking tool on the offcial forums and it got to several pages before
the mods caught it.
As far as Sony vs The Hack goes..the last I read from the author of the
hack was that basicly he's already sick of keeping the thing updated
against sonys latest patches. At the momemt, the latest patch will
crash anyone who attempts to enable any of the tool and go in game. Of
course I haven't played in a week and the site the hack is hosted on
now requires membership to read. So I have no idea if it's been
updated and is back in action or not.
The bad thing about it really though is this...and both previous
posters sound like fellow FPS gamers so you both know as well as I do
how these "hack tools" wind up going down. The tools been written.
Even if the original author grows bored of updating it, now someone out
there will always take up the task, simply updating his tool and
probably over time just adding more and more hacks to it.
It's like when CS beta 6 came around and that dude wrote the first
"colored based scan box aimbot". The aimbot was total crap and we just
happily owned anyone stupid enough to use it, of course all it took was
one guy showing the others how it was done and low and behold by CS
beta 7 the much more advanced OGC was born.
At this point, I'm pretty much expecting PS to stay hacked from now on.
PS- I think Az here mentioned how sony should publicy trash the guys
being busted. Problem is this man. The guys hacking are just using
fodder accounts anyhow. He dosent care if you ban him, he'll just be
right back with another fodder account anyways. Like we've been
telling Sony, simply start requiring CC info to get a fodder
account and at least some of the more blantant crap will slow down.
In any case, and though i regret to say it, 'free and easy' signups have failed and need to stop.
btw, i wasn't suggesting naming and shaming neccessarily, i just meant that SOME public demonstration that they are trying to fix the problem would greatly improve the general perception of the game.

Ahhh, all this time Tinybina and your STILL bashing the game? Do you know y SoE can't get rid of these hackers?
They released a profram which most of you have undoublty heard of. Fodderside. Bring a bunch-o nubs in and let the paying ppl have fun wtfpwning them. Or so thats how i look at it. It's a free trial till dec. or jan. somewhere in there. So a person with the know-how on these hax gets a fodder account and starts playing. Get's wacked with the ban hammer.....makes another fodder account and so on. Yes it did get REALLY bad for a week and a half. Istant LLU runs, flying AV maxes, gen teleport for a quick gen down. However it has gotten better...MUCH better. With release of the wasp was some anti-hack patch thing that came with it. It has taken care of the problem for the moment. But i'm sure hackers will find the way around it soon. By the begining of 2007 most of this should b gone and back to how the game was.
This game does have ALOT of little bugs that will make you swear someone was hacking. Such as i had a guy jump down ontop of me from a ledge. I didn't see neone there but he was still killing me. A day later i remembered the bug where occasionaly if someone tries to jump over something you can just barley make it over it will show on your screen they didn't make it and they r just running into the rail not going newhere and will instantly warp a few seconds later to where they r on their screen.
COF hack. Never really had a problem with this. Is it actually possible some ppl can...aim? /gasp Back in my "i'm a noob and i suxxor hard" days i thought alot of ppl had it. Not true, my FPS just sucked, and i sucked. Seriously my kill/death would b like 7/35, lol. Now in an hour it's about 60/20, it various depending upon what the situation is.
Tiny, one time my modem was messed and i had 30% packet loss on PS. I have no clue how i managed to get on. I seriously had to wait like 3 min for doors to open and to pull vehicles. VS had Dagda on Fors and i flew my skeeter over it and shot at a softy and guessed what SHOULD have killed him and flew off. WAY off. I landed near a lake and hit "G" to get out. Wouldn't let me. Couldn't log off or nething. About 15 min went by and my skeet just randomly blew. The kill spam said a max got me and i got the softy kill. Can you imagine what it was like at the base?
Just the other day in the caves the VS were tryin to spawn camp me. Spawned in my undies and was waiting for my hacker to spawn to get me gear out. A VS guy ran in and i quickly wasted him with a couple shots shy of a clip (30 rounds). He sent me a tell accusing me of being a hacker cause he said he shot me a shit load of times and i shot him 3 times. I love those ppl.
For everything that you THINK is a hack is prolly a bug or someone lagging real bad. Libs jerking around real bad is usually a driver lagging and catching up to where he is on his screen, NOT a speed hack. Only like 3 or so ppl were obviously hacking on emerald. So think of all the possable explantations there is or send a tell to the person and asked what happened.
I will say this hacker LTBurns or whatever that is terrozing Werner actually did us that play this game a favor, by realeasing his hacks to the public hense letting everyone do them. He actually forced SOE to stand up and pay attention to their dirty little thing they tried to keep hush hush. I actually applaud Burnz because he got SOE to do what some of us have been doing complaining for way to long and thats FIX the hack problem in there coding.
The wasp patch did nothing to fix the problem btw turbo. I despise people like you Solnalan and pitty you as well.. Open your eyes next time your in battle and see whats really going on. Alot of these hackers are doing there best not to get caught, there not flying around the screen like some of the blantant ones. But they are still using the hacks, take the COF hack which is by far the most used one, it takes a carefull eye to witness whats going on there. You have to really pay special attention to the bloom of the weapon, or in the COF hack case, the lack of bloom... Yesturday I saw two count them two cloakers in 3 hours snipe people with a AMP from +50m in game, full freaking auto they never let up on the trigger.. Anyone who has ever used a AMP knows this is impossible since the Cone of Fire on the amp is insane if your dont use trigger burst.. Yet when they shot the AMP off, it was a nice little tight shot group that had no bloom at all from 50m away full auto.. So I guess im suppose to write this off as lag or something?
I wish SOE would stop deleting post that have videos of these hacks, then maybe you will pull that wool over your eyes and see that these hacks exist and are all over the place.

This is just confirmation for me since I reported him for using the COF hack , see what happens when you pay attention to whats going around you in the game Sonalan.. I knew this guy was hacking, I knew it!! To bad SOE could freaking careless since I saw him last night...

Fought a guy I have known a long time yesturday at a Bio Lab(dude is on the leader board of a certain server).. I lit him up on one of my alts with a AV max.. Dude was freaking glowing blue and everything so I know I was hitting him.. Yet he continued to surge for about 3 mins while I gave chase and hit him some more and on an on...Finally one of his teammates took me out.. I sent him a tell asking how he was able to surge so long and not run out of stam, no response... Now I know...This is one of the notes on this dudes hack. NIce.. Not!

This particular one really struck home for me, since I cant tell you how many times I was like WTF I got away from him, how did he shoot me and I turned the corner..... Well here is how, Enemy Freeze.... Sad... Just sad...

I know the coding is bad in this game and lag plays into effect in all, but its also worth mentioning that there is a hack out there that could explain this. Not trying to say that ever time you die when you thought you run away that you are facing a hacker, but there are some individuals that come to mind that always kill people when it looks like they got away.. A few of them just happens to be on Planetsidestats.nets leaderboard alot of times as a matter of fact....
As you can see I posted just a few quotes, none told where I got them or how to do them they just told you what the hacks where. All of these post where made after the AA mossie patch Sonalan, and alot of the post on that site where made a long time ago as well. This is just a few of the hacks, there were tons listed there... TONS........
As I have said many times, Fix your game SOE.. FOR REAL THIS TIME....

I never said the COF hack doesn't exsist. Just simply stating i never had a problem with it. I will admit it DOES exsist, i have seen it time to time in videos.
How many ppl frequent those forums is the question. I don't see alot (haven't seen any for 3 weeks now) of hackers nor do i hear of neone bitching about them in /c chat.
It might b different in the huge zerg fights which i do not attend.
Ppl are getting booted if they r found hacking. Such as TRxMars got booted a bit back for hacking. There was some kind of confusion with a hacker named TRxMarz immatating him and they both got the ban hammer. Dunno if the real Mars was hacking or not but they ARE working on it.
And btw, read the patch notes.

Added hack detection. We are currently only logging cheaters; once we are satisfied the detection is working correctly they will be punished.
I'm sure there r still hackers. And they are being stealthy about it. But if they don't bother me, i'm fine. If they do, i will go about it Jay and Silent Bob style.
So all these stealthy hackers that you don't notice (if you don't notice them, is it really a problem?) will soon b getting booted.
SOE's approach to this hack provention is comical.. All I can say is that the funny thing is that if it wasnt for a certain Hacker posting his hacks, SOE would have continued to ignore the subject and act like it never existed... Sad that a hacker has to force SOE to acknowlege a problem in there game that has been aroud since launch..
As for Mars, many will try to say that he wasnt cheating that it was a mix up.. Personally I think he was one of those that was using hacks that are hard to detect like the Stamina hack/COF/ or AB hack and finally got caught.. But thats my opinion, obviously he was doing something since DanB realized there was a imposter yet still banned them both...
I think the imposter wanted Mars to get reported as well to bring attention to him, get SOE to pay attention to him and they probably found some interesting things going on.. Takes a hacker to know a hacker you know.

I have to really give the current team that develops this game some credit here. They went out and put up some anit cheat detection on the servers recently and it really seems to have done the trick agianst alot of those hackers out there. Reading from a certain known hacker board those hackers are none to happy.. So Kudus to the PS developers for doing the right thing, just dont take so long next time please.

Yeah, they've implimented some new hack detecting system. People are whining left and right because they got banned now.
I give them credit for fixing this, but really, what did they expect when they made the game F2P with the only requirement an email address?

To you it is. To me it feels like the day i got it but with BFRs and Wasps.
It seems that hacks, exploits, and all manner of 'aimbots' are common in FPS games. I play Halo (PC version) in my spare time, but unfortunately I've seen quite a few 'aimbotters' who don't posess the mental agility and stamina to compete with the people who already understand how the game works.
You can tell them apart easily: they don't evade anything, they jump around like a posessed rabbit, and they score head shots with every bullet. "Walk like a newb, aim like a pro", so to speak.
I reveal what clanner aimbotters do by recording videos of every match I've played, and I post them on the KW forums. Almost instantly, the clan is removed.
Why not do that with Planetside? Make an effort to keep your game clean, the devs can't keep track of everything. WoW still has a huge problem with hackers (teleportation, insta-kill, and speed hack).
Even though I have played PS, I didn't really enjoy it all too greatly and quit after the second day... just not my game, I guess.
