Hello.

Would you recommend this game to someone who uses text chat only?

Are there major portions of the game that are inaccessable to someone who uses text chat only?

There are no parts of the game made inaccessable by it, but teamplay becomes far more difficult without it and many outfits require that members use VOIP.

Why don't you use voice chat? is it some technical difficulty? lack of a microphone? or do you have some form of hearing or speech impariment? For my own outfit at least, we only require that non-leaders listen to our Ventrillo server so that command and tactical information can be passed on quickly and easily. having a microphone set up is optional.

It's not funny, it's not clever, and it WILL break if you play with it.

this game is fine for people without teamspeak/voice chat but it is recommended (espcially by a lot of outfits) but as long you understand the planetside jargon you can play the game without voice chat.

You definetly won't have any problems playing Planetside without a mic or using any VOIP.

However, if you do decide sometime in the future to give in and log into your outfit's TS server, you'll find the gaming experience to be far more enjoyable than any other game you've played in the past without a strong reccomendation for VOIP.

Commands get relayed easier, everyone knows what's going on, jokes make sense, and you'll find yourself becoming much more "bonded" to the people you play with regularly, which is the main reason humans play MMOs anyway.

Agreed 100%. The game is bland without some sort of VOIP. I wouldn't have made it past year 1 w/o it (going on year 3 in december). Most Outfits require listening but talking is optional, if you don't wanna use some sort of voice communications your REALLY limiting yourself on outfits and playing experience.

Imagine making friends with an outfit mate and you go into the backdoor of a base. He takes lead and you are following him. An enemy jumps from the top and into the backdoor behinf you...how much time are you gonna have to type "/s behind us"? Chances are you'll die and if your new "freind" isn't all to good or aware he will keep running and prolly get shot in the back also. When you could just scream it over TS/VENT in .5 seconds WHILE turning and shooting AND gaining your mates assistance and WTFPWN that noob who likes to shoot ppl in the ass.

This is just one of MANY instances TS can enhance your gameplay. Without it it you are really missing out on alot.
