What game should I pick

since I just got an ADSL connection a new era in gaming will start for me (I hope)

I wanted to ask you people a very simple question: what MMOG should i pick. I like the games from the Baldurs Gate Series and Morrowind the Elder Scrolls, so I prefer a fantasy element. Second, I dont want to pay to much since this ADSL thinggie is costly as it is...

    Gongratulations, You've entered a new world :)

    Got adsl(1024/256) 1 1/2 years ago, and I never wanna see a 56k connection anymore :)

(I threw the pci 56K card I had far into the forest :P )

About the games.. Have too little experience in other fantasy-games than UO, Wich I played a long time ago.. So I don't know the state of the game at present.

The newest games to be released have been Final Fantasy XI and Horizons, although I've never played either beyond beta. Then you have your classic games such as Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Ulima Online, Asheron's Call and Anarchy Online. Some new games are supposed to be released soon, but I'm not holding my breath.

Since you are new to mmorpgs i would suggest you go with a tried and tested one.

It will make a good impression on you about mmorgs.

However there are a few that are free to try  like anarchy online, shadowbane and asheron's call 2 .

My pick for you is everquest or dark ages of camelot.

Congratz! High speed internet is real nice to have.  It been like 5 year or more sence the last time I had a 56k modem. Well if I were you I would just sit back and save your money tell the end of spring.  EQ2, Lineage 2, WOW, and UXO the next generation of MMORPG.

My advice is to go with EQ. They have lots of fun classes and races! Its a developed game and you can buy a huge set of expansions for merely 40$ Canadian !

Plus, EQ2 is coming so if you play EQ and get the hang of it, EQ2 will be a snatch! hehe

My favorite graphical mmorpg has and will be for quite some time-Asheron's Call I. It has a set of classes that you may choose from or an adventure class that allows you to fully customize your character's skills and attributes. It's not much in the way of traditional fantasy but since it's making the transition from Microsoft's control to Turbine, it appears it will be more like D&D from what I gather. In fact, the first month that Turbine started to take charge, minidragons appeared in-game and up until that point the closest resemblance of dragons were the gromnies. However, there is talk of a $13 charge on subscription coming fairly soon... I've never played EQ but watched someone play it about 2 years ago and watching it was enough for me... I wouldn't recommend UO either. I bought it and played it for 2 days and then quit... Possibly the greatest waste of my money? *shrug* Horizons is entertaining, but if you do choose to play it then plan on living in a fairly-bad graphical environment *cough-golems...* and don't plan on playing a dragon for another 2 or 3 months until they implement adult and ancient dragons. I was a lvl 31 hatchling dragon when I quit. It has an awesome guild system, but they reeeally need to implement adults and ancients.

After trying nearly every online game for atleast 1 month each id have to say the all time top 3 mmorpgs that would be worth your time are:

Everquest, Ultima online or Dark age of camelot. ( all 3 of these games will run you from $5- $30 there really cheap )

there really hasnt been any good mmorpgs since these. i wont right no reviews on them you can go check out the player reviews under the GAME LIST link at the top. FFXI , SWG, AO, AC i could only last a little over a month playing them before I was bored. but to each there own. Right now im waitin on the new mmorpgs to get released. Eq2 lineage 2 uxo or WOW.
