Auto aim sucks

I was expecting something great like pre nge :S
Instead we got something more confusing and weird to use!

I can never tell if it's on and off, half the time it doesn't allow me to attack and have to use like 3 keys to get it to work!

Why can't we just have pre nge?

Geez, c'mon. Haven't you figured out by now that if you play the NGE, you give up your right to whine about anything they do? SOE's attitude for the past year and a half has been, if you don't like it, then there must be something wrong with you, not the game. You're paying so they can experiment, so something "confusing and weird" is a surprise?

It frustrates me that people like you cannot see the bigger picture.

It is obvious that SOE has humanity as a whole as their priority rather than the game itself. They are systematically trying to force a jump in evolution upon us.

First they gave us all a game we enjoyed. Then they took it away with the CU to force us to evolve better coping skills. Once we adapted to the new method and learned to cope they made another change that forced us to adapt yet again with the NGE, this time centered around peripheral vision. Forcing us to see the bigger picture with that over the shoulder view so that we could adapt better to the quicker combat and life situations thrown at us.

Then in their final vision they forced yet another combat system wherein we were required to grow a third arm and hand just to prove viable in this sped up, off center, peripheral, 4x normal speed universe they had created, and in so doing those of us who could not adapt were left behind on the evolutionary history of the gaming GODS!!!

Or, you could just say they f-ed us in the A** and didn't give us a reach around, but, whatever....

By the way, Scaramoosh, Can you do the Fandango??

your just now noticing it sucks ? u can have PRE NGE or PRE-CU as its called its on the way its the vets gift to SOE/LA for the NGE its called EMU and its SOE/LA free and no monthly fee.

I dont wanna make anything tho I wanted to turn it on and off an easily use it :S How is what we have now simple compared to pre nge?

Ok, I'll post it here as well then :P This should make it pretty much like it was pre-nge:

Go to options and then keymap. Under target, assign Auto Target to something like X. When you turn on auto target, it stays on until you turn it off again even after you quit the game. Assign auto-fire to the left mouse button. Click the UI tab and assign the Right mouse button to "Set target and summon radial". Make sure "actions can be fired from toolbar" is also selected.

If you do it like this, to select your target you either right click it (hold down the right button will also bring up the radial) first or press Tab. To start attacking left click.

I don't know what is difficult about it, turning on auto aim only ever has to be done once and then it stays on. Granted you have to go through the gyrations to set it up like it used to be but atleast we can now. Once you set it it will work just like the old targetting system with exception to that stupid blue pointer. Point, click, and turn on auto attack or hit tab and then auto attack.

Simple.

? No, the point was that before you simply hit the tabe button, it would target the closest target.

(To bind it) perse -- I thought they would have made it like before.

No macros, nothing else and it was a good function, the ole "If it ain't broke" type concept in programming.

It would not suprise me if the tab button is by default used to sitdown, who knows? I have not played enough other then logging in to feel it with a friends toon and talk. After I jitter around like a crack addict I drop out. I'm a SIM/MMO type gamer I can't help it.

Well, if they used the old target system, they'd be giving in and admitting that the old system was better. This way they bring in a "whole new system" to show the fans that they're listening. However, it's still a terrible system because they just aren't good at their jobs.

All you who are jumping on with this guys whiney little soapboax are also jumping in with the same crowd that brought us the NGE in the first place. Congrats!

It probably isn't. I probably shouldn't have bothered but it was people like him that are the reason why I no longer play the game I once loved. I probably shouldn't have said it in such a harsh way either, but *&%#@*! people like him piss me off. If you are too stupid to figure it out (esp after reading OB's excellent keymapping idea) then pack up your computer and return it cause you shouldn't be using one in the first place.

OOooppss I did it again didn't I? I am bad today lol.

Hmm, I am on my PDA so the text is small but still, I thought he was complaing you have to do a series of mapping and crap.

Sorry, I did not know you could jump in and hit tab and your off and running. In that case how can you fuck that up I have to ask? Unless he is from the NGE times and did not know that is how it worked before I guess.

I hit tab to select my target and lock on. I then click the right mouse button to engage auto fire. Its really that simple

Series of mapping? You mean assigning my prefered keys like I do for every mmo? Ya i had to set tab as the key, by default it has another one. Like that is really tough...

You do it once and then it's over with and you can use it for as long as you want to keep it that way. I can't think of many keys in SWG that I don't change from the default, pre-cu, during the CU, or after the NGE. Since when is keymapping all the sudden a new thing to SWG?

Hell I couldn't stand the modal UI in SWG and I still can't. Pre-CU I turned it off and went with MMORPG Modeless so I could play it like EQ 1 and redid all my keys in a similar manner and you are complaining that you may have to reset the target next key to tab now?

You have to map 3 keys if you don't liek their default setting and want the old style targetting back because by default it still set with the NGE targetting, once you do that you are done and can play the way you play a standard MMO with target lock.

Sounds to me like he either didn't want to try and wanted something to complain about or keymapping is alittle above him.

The right mouse button to turn on auto attack is a waste of a perfectly good mouse button. UGH.
