They spent to much time on the graphics? Although I will say the graphics are only mediocre to me, I don't care for the style of them and alot of the textures are rediculous looking and not very attractive even.

It's a good looking dungeon simulator, that is really all it has going for it.

I recommend trying out the Free Trial.  You can download it from their website.  It gives you seven days to get into the dungeons and see if you like it.

I liked the game a lot, but I disagree with it's pricing.  I don't believe I should have to pay $15 a month.  Instead I play Guild Wars which offers similar gameplay for free.  Although D&D Online does have some different things in it, like the excellent dungeons and the whole D&D feel, it is an instanced game that doesn't feel "massive" at all.

ok, thanks for that link... im going to download the free trial rite now....

compared to other MMORPGs (WoW, Everquest, etc.) i think it looks pretty good.... especially compared to games like the legend of ares and games like that that ive played....

i appreciate it, ill post back with what i findout about the game!

One note about the graphics is that while the download trial will let you click on "very high" textures, you will still only be getting "high" textures, (unless they've changed something recently.) You need the DVD for very-high textures.

The game still looks good on high, but very high is even better. I don't know how anyone can complain about the graphics in DDO other than possibly the smoothness, or mainly about the drab colors in most places. The new quests in module 2 show what the game can look like with colorful monsters and environments. It's like the sun finally came out instead of looking at everything under an overcast sky.

Then I have never seen the very high textures unless they were in the beta client.

You'll most likely love it for about 3 weeks.  That's really all the game has in it ... 3 week's worth of interesting gameplay.  Then the repetition will start to get to you.

The dungeons, while fairly well crafted, are static.  Monsters do not wander, trap locations do not change.  You become Eberron's version of the Borg ... once you've been through a dungeon two times or so, you adapt.  It requires no thought to go through the dungeon the third time, because you're aware of the location of everything of significance in the instance.  And since you're only rewarded upon completion, you take the path of least resistance to get to the end.

With no explorable world, no crafting, no player housing to tinker with ... nothing to do except dungeon instances ... the game devolves into a grind rather quickly.

However, I wish you the best of luck.  Let us know how you like the game after a week .. then after a month should you decide to subscribe.
