I was wondering what the little things are/were in SWG that made everybody go "Cool!" Not major features like auto aim, just little things, or things most likely to be taken for granted.
One I discovered right before I quit in June was being able to rent a Jukebox from an NPC in various hotels (Event Coordinators) around the galaxy. I loved to put one in my shop and leave it playing something by Max Rebo. Too bad they lasted 16 hours ... or less.
I also loved the ability to change clothes to fit the occasion and the decent variety of clothing styles available. Sure, they could have added more, but the variety was still awesome compared to other games.
I enjoyed making scoped and unscoped laser rifles and the fact they looked different as a result of the choice.
I think it was those kinds of little things that helped the game hook me initially.
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever

One thing off the top of my head are stalking creatures. You wandered too close to an aggressive creature and it would follow you, tracking you. It wouldn't attack right away, just would follow you until it was close enough to attack.
The other thing that I liked was certain locations on the initial planets. Tatooine, for example, had a circle of stones standing upright on top of a hill about 1.5 km from the town that I lived in. Made a great place to visit and made exploring the planets more fun.
"There's no star system Slave I can't reach, and there's no planet I can't find. There's nowhere in the Galaxy for you to run. Might as well give up now."

The old sound and saber trails with connect sound hits and particles..
Did not make it past pub-10 but they looked to real... it felt good to swing a saber and see it, with smooth animation and movment. It fights it looked much much better to see sabers crossing and hitting while making a noise... then the leg sweep animations and throws, I miss the old old saber throw though. It would fly around and hit multiple targets in a circle.. it was pretty cool looking.

The emote and mood animations.
This game made it possible to express yourself in more ways than just text. With text it is sometimes hard to convey the emotion behind what your words mean, but with SWG's emote and mood system you could add more than just text, you could have your avatar animate the emotion along with the text.
For instance, when you typed "LOL" your character started laughing. A little thing that helped make the world feel more real.

Now that you bring it up, there were a number of emote animations that got me happy, like /rude.
/rude came in handy when I left the game too.

The ROFL emote when you actually point, laugh, fall to your knees, roll on the floor.
That was BEAUTIFUL when asshats used to chain-duel request me. For some reason asshats hate being laughed at.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

Ahh yeah the saber throw animation that spun around your body in a circle? That always looked so cool. I also remember the old force throw that would kick up a huge cloud of dust everywhere. Why the hell do they remove the coolest things in that game?
Here are mine:
1) E-Chu-Ta... 'nuf said
2) My first Camp, crafting and setting it up...
3) The first time a friend & I played music together... Just wow...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

combat? You'd think by the way it never has functioned well that no one gave a rats arse if it worked. A lot of lip service has been paid to combat, but its functionality and importance to the actual game was pretty insignificant. If you want to be try to the posters intent.
Camping was wierdly fun pre-cu. I remember people grinding camping xp outside Naboo and I always would stop and chat. Get some heals.
1. Bounty Hunting: I loved walking up to a terminal, grabbing a bounty, and letting the droids fly. I can distinctly remember the first time a friend of mine, Drax'el, and I thought a droid was actually working on a Jedi bounty.
2. Impromptu Cities: I hated Player Cities, but I really enjoyed the major NPC city 'suburbs'.

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
Yeah, that was way cool the first time I noticed a group of entertainers in step with one another. Stupid me, I did not notice until late 2004.
Oh, E-Chu-Ta got me in pretty serious trouble once. We had just signed up our first female into our guild. We had no idea just how sensitive she was. Some other guy from the guild, the new girl, and myself were at one of my crafting houses goofing around and joking. He childishly did a /puke on her which made her seething mad, and I meant to /echuta on him but had her targeted instead. She ran out of the house towards the GH, and logged off!
The two of us just sat there dumbfounded at how we probably just ran off the first female member of our guild. There would be hell to pay. Fortunately I was able to explain it away to her and get her to stay. Boy she got a lot of free stuff out of us for months as a result of our guilt.

They changed it. I think twice actually.
But it was somthing to hear one -- from a distance in a Star Port -- just one, not 100 at the same time.

The ambience of the cities, the speeders and voices in the backgrounds.
The ability to change your make up to match your clothes.
The many many many emotes and creative ways to use them, such as doing /soapbox on your defeated enemy to make it look like you're standing on their corpse >:D
The sound of a lightsaber igniting in a croweded city, back when they were rare.
The little paths and roads on the planets.
Seeing a squad of stormtroopers go for a swim. lol
The tusken raiders noises. uughhhhh ughh ughhhhhhhhhhhhh!
The little t1 and t2 pet tricks.
The total darkness of Dathomir. That planet used to be so spewky.
When fighting ns elders, their difficulty would depend on the weapon they were carrying.
The racist remarks from stormtroopers rofl.
Grinding jedi out on Endor by yourself when a shuttle lands and stormtroopers pop out and having to run because of vision.
The dust storms on Tatooine and the sad music that would play wit it.
I better stop. This is making me sniffle.
For the Horde!
Yeh when I said the hiss of a lightsaber ignite I meant when Jedi were rare.
I'd be minding my own business and then from inside a cantina or Starport id hear it and think cool whats going on. I'd drop everything and run out...but the jedi would be gone.
Of course now u here it and think....ahh the kids are dueling again (mute sound)
Man, I can't believe you guys missed this one.........
CRAFTING!
Please keep in mind that I was a weaponsmith from Sept of 03 up until that travesty hit in November.
I loved that.. Bio Engy Chef for the win!!
I spent hours and hours making stuff for no reason at all other then to test it.
But that is like a whole other book.... I think there is alot of us crafters that miss things like that.
I don't think we missed it.. it's just one of the hundreds of missed things.
