Ok, we all know the meeting between LA and the ducks.
It was to talk about what legal battles are about to happen. The ducks will fight this one in court as they believe they have done nothing wrong. LA is just protecting thier property.
Ducks: Hope you don't go to jail.
LA: Get SOE to resign
SoE: Give us pre-cu to save your game.

It is true that you have to move on possible copyright infringements. If you don't then you can end up unable to protect your product. That was part of why Mythic sued Microsoft over the Mythica game.
I think for this project they could argue under the Fair Use laws pretty easy. They aren't using this for a commercial product.. and can claim everything they are doing is part of an educational project and nothing more.
Since they aren't running servers.. or charging for a service etc etc.
Just depends on how much money you want to make someone waste in court.
SOE and LAE have yet to state their position on this. But if you read above the law may force them to make a move on them (duck team). Lets just hope this wont become another Napster, I would hate to see them start going after individual users as well.
Also this has nothing to do with games, SOE pre cu or anything BUT the intellectual property that is Star Wars and it’s charactors, places, items ect ect. This is a bit different situation than the little WoW, UO, and so on emus out there. Recreating something someone else made with copyrighted characters like "A Stormtrooper" or "Darth Vader" in it is still infringement.

Wasn't it just a week ago that he posted that official pre-cu servers are coming up? So, to believe this would also make that believable as well?
It's simply speculation on everyone's part. The only ones that really know what is happening are the emudevs and LA/SOE.
Until I hear something meaningful from one of these three parties, I am just assuming that everything else is purely speculation.
