Is it just me or have things gone really quiet here?

Is there no news out there?

Gee - there was a journal on wyr just a few days ago. What more do you want?

I think he wants what we all want.

Hopefully in the months we will get a lot more official information from simu, i wanna start reading lore, and reading about the classes and the cities and the monsters.

Me too - but I also understand this stuff doesnt always get released on games prior to release.

Class and skill stuff - often because it may change during beta.
Lore stuff - there is often so much of it, and the the developers are usually flat out just trying to get the game complete and out the door.

Still they have been putting out updates every second week for quite a while so there a lot of info around. Of course that just makes us all drool wanting more.

I bet they just want the game to fully exist rather than tell us what will be. Beta would satisfy our appetites for information much more than these articles ever could.

Slow on these forums? Or slow on HJ info?

Hero's Hall forums are pretty active but I would love to be hearing more game info :D

Me too, but I understand the reasons. Still there has been very little info about major parts of the game, like crafting and the economy. I know they dont want to say anything till it's written in stone, but I wish they would at least sahre some of the more basic concepts they are planning.

Heroes Hall is back up to read?  If we go there will it be safe now that its after june 29th .

Anyway, I think your right about the satification of whenever the beta comes out, considering thats pretty much the only visual data we can recieve other than 1 or2 E3 clips from Heroes Site. If there's anymore Clips that you guys know of please share .

Other than waiting for beta, all we can do is keep ourselves updated here inthe forums eh.

For me, it's the Journey System. That's really the feature (or set of features) that's going to make or break the game for me. The idea of players having actual ongoing, evolving storylines of their very own is exactly the sort of thing I've wanted since I first started playing MMOs; so far, however, the information on the Journey System has been extremely sparse, and there are an infinite number of ways the mentioned aspects of it could be assembled so as to produce an unappealing end result. I'd really like to hear more about their vision for the Journey System, if not the actual features (though some features would be tremendous, obviously). I'd love to hear more about what the design team's intention is with regard to said system, and some general comments about how they plan on making their intention a reality.

My hope is that the "plotline/storyline" system mentioned is going to more closely resemble the evolving stories found in singleplayer games than it will a semi-random version of the traditionally formulaic quests found in MMOs. Obviously, it's not likely that any MMO could replicate the singleplayer experience with regard to interactive storytelling, but it's certainly possible to take a few steps in that direction.

At the moment, though, we really can't say what the system is supposed to be; all we really have on the subject are a few sentences. A Dev Journal on the Journey System would definitely go a long way towards gaining my interest, not to mention my active participation in discussions. (Okay, I tell a lie: my interest is pretty much peaking as it is, but I'd still like to hear about it.) Anyway, I think the Journey System is potentially the largest differentiating factor between HJ and other MMOs, if only as I picture it in my imagination. The fact that it's rarely even alluded to by the decision-makers at Simutronics makes me pout ferociously. It's such an interesting topic!

I agree Jen, that is one of the ideas that has/had me really interested in Hj, as something other than a EQ clone. Still, I'd like to know more about how they intend to deal with the economy and gold farmers, what kind of pricing structure they plan on having (and with Simu having the industry standard flat rate is NOT the norm) will Wyr simply replace gear as the end all and be all of your character, or will there be more to it? Lots of questions for me that need to be answered.

In answer to a previous question - both really, there's not a whole lot of new info (Wyr aside) but it was mostly about th eforums - there seems so little going on that its almost not worth visiting (although 10 posts isn't too bad )

I'm very interested in the Journey system too, but I guess thats a major thing they'll be keeping under their collective hats for some time, however one thing I really would like to know is will it work with groups as well - the reason I ask this is that I always play with two other people whenevr I'm on and while none of us would mind helping the other two out with their journey quests it would be great if we have a collective journey for our group

That is a very good point. I remember in CoH they eventually put in a system where you could get credit for another persons' mission if you had it as well. And while I also have no problems halping freinds (I enjoy it) doing the same quest say, 3 times in one night for 3 different people is not alot of fun. Having a way for all member to get get credit for it (if they have that quest in their journal) would be a excellent idea.

If the Journey systems goes into place like it's supposed to. The likelihood of 3 friends having the same quest at the same time for the same reason with the same goal should be extremely unlikely. Remember the purpose of the system is to make sure no 2 characters have exactly the same storyline. A difficult thing to accomplish, which is why the information we release on the system is going to be limited until it can be fully tested for flaws.

That while excellent for solo players and in fact 90%+ of all the players out there is a wee bit of a pain, but then as long as the journey quests don't have to be solo'd and are different then I see no problems at all :)

Think of this as the calm before the storm. I've been through several of these MMO releases and its always like this. They're trying to get most of the core systems into the game and run through internal QA before they release it to the internal beta testers. Once enough content passes internal QA, then they had it off to their closed beta participants. They'll run through the Alpha testing drill, things like stability, functionality, GUI interface, controls, and just the over all functionality of the game. Once -all- the systems are in and working functionally, then they'll start to draw in a larger closed beta crowd and start to stress test the servers. Around -that- point they'll start to release more information: one, because its actually in the game and working to some degree, and two, because its geting near time for a larger beta draw.
