Yup.  Great new content for BH & Jedi, the darlings of the devs.  Still no word on IF the entertainers will get anything in any of these publishes, after having been ignored in all previous profession revamps.

First response to reading the topic:

SWG must have screwed up Talus. I bet the post says
"Sorry guys, be we were trying to make Talus feel more 'Star Warsy", and we messed up some of our files. If you were on Talus within the last week, you've probably lost all of your items, money, and experiance. But don't worry, to make it up to you, we've done the same thing to all the other planets.

    Our sincerest apologies,
    The SWG Dev Team"

This publish is not the ground breaking impact that many hedged the whole of the game on...BUT the devs have taken steps in the right direction in pleasing some of the vets and customers.  Locking Autofire is back for those that hate the FPS.  The UI has gotten a few improvements with the shrinking of the Group interface and the Chat Window Frame fade out.  Progressive content inclusion is good(compared to none) but needs a little more depth of involvement then the standard Kill X # of MOBS and update mission. I am speaking of only the Legacy Quest here, however.  The new Expertise is good.  The real complaint is that it is only on Jedi and Bounty Hunters currently.  The community is impatiant for all Profressions to get theirs.  I have not experianced the New Static Base improvements on Naboo, Corellia and Talus.  From what I understand, they are not on par with the content of Restuus.

I have had vets guildmates come back and try thier new skills (Jedi) and really enjoyed the game play with the Expertise and Auto Fire.  Jedi love that 10k Heal.  More Improvements reaching back to to Pre-NGE, I think, would be well recieved by both Vets and NGE new players.  Dont get me wrong.  I miss my Sandbox but as the Quest enviroment grows more depth is apparent to this NGE for good or bad.  The real depth of SWG Post-NGE will come when full Non-combat is finally revamped and working.  That is a fundimental part of the game for many.

I dont see a return of 32 profession in the SOE/LA game but one can hope that more Sandbox like elements could be used to flesh out the bare bones of Galaxies Worlds after the Quest track is established for CL 1 - 90.  This to, could be a return to the interdepandance, of some functions, of profession in the game world beyond the starting profession.  That however is "not on the roadmap at this time."

I only check in on SWG every now and then, because I have a small tinge of hope it will return to former glory, however I have to say that the devs taking baby steps back toward the way the game once was, after taking GIGANTIC leaps to get to where they are now, is a far cry from hope for this game that although not dead, it should be.

I know you miss your sandbox, everyone does, and we appreciate a somewhat unbiased opinion on how the game is going, so I'm not trying to flame.  But I have to say this, I used to think the only thing in the world I ever wanted to do was play SWG, and that nothing would ever make me happier than playing that game.  And after the first CU I cancelled, I didn't even give them enough money to screw me on the NGE thank god.  But now I'm telling you, there are so many better MMO's out there, I mean ALOT of better MMO's that are worth far more than a few minutes of your time.  And far less buggy with alot more response from devs who seem to actually care about fanbase.

Try them, and not just for a week or month or something, REALLY try another game, it's worth it.

O.K. true believers, I will stop trying to convince your gamemates to leave the game now, and let you get back to your hopes and dreams.  I truly do hope the force is with you, because if it ever actually is, I may come back.

    Thx for reading,

Yes I have tried other MMOs.  To be fair, I have played DDO and CoH.  DDO because I am a fan of the PnP version and felt I should support it for such.  It will probably be the first game I cancel.  CoH was the place my guild members migrated to from SWG.  It is a fantasic game and is what the CU of Galaxies should have been.  I am not too keen on the Fantasy MMOs but am interestedin LotR MMO.  My interest is more for Stargate and Star Trek as I love those IPs.  Yes, I could possibly better luck for MMOs with non-IP games.

In my heart, I have always wanted to live in that galaxy far far away.  I was Star Wars when Star Wars wasnt cool.  I have been a Star Wars fan since 77-78 and dreamed as a school boy back then to live in that wonderious realm. SWG offered a chance for that, so I pre-ordered for the game and waited with high hopes.  I loved it at launch.  I was a naive new comer to the MMO market and it was all amazing.  If you are a SWG vet, you know the rest of the story.

Right now, blame is being discovered on what went wrong with galaxies.  If you want the answer...in a name... Jim Ward.  SOE is right now trying to save face with Lucas Arts for what John Smedley has said about IP holders not understanding the MMO market.  It was truely unfair and biased to throw away the hard work and time players invested in SWG.  It was done to gain a sub base that Lucas Arts', Jim Ward and other Board Members felt the SW IP could attract.  The NGE was (and continues to be) done to capture all those Casual Star Wars Fans who would play a game like World of Warcraft with little commitment.  The SWG commuity was looked over because it accounted for only 300k subs at best totals.  They are defined as Hardcore/nitch market players willing to commit to such a world simulator.  That is a far cry from 6-7 million subs that the Star Wars IP could attract.  Lucas Arts is confident those figures are attainable.  I will bet $1 to a pig turd that SOE knew the trouble coming and couldnt warn LA away from it. (Sorry, for my country ways). So, hand in hand, they gambled for the mythical customers.

Why did SWG not get a Million Subscribers under its initial system?  Lucas Arts has identified it as to technical to play (They are the ones that did the polls and surveys).  Playing the Game, WE all know the game has never been complete and functional to the standards of the MMO market acceptance.  Changing the System only just makes the Matter worse.  Who would want to play a profession that has been incomplete for 3 years?  I did in a hopes it would change.  The Change, however, was always on something that did not need it, in my view.

Well, there ya' go... I got it out there and yes, its been said before.
