Comparison of EQ2 PvP to WoW PvP...

raykorraykor Member UncommonPosts: 326

EQ2 is a game I never considered playing because it didn't offer PvP.  I only found out yesterday that EQ2 offered PvP servers!  In fact, the current EQ2 FAQs still say:

Will there be player-versus-player (PvP) combat?

Just as the original EverQuest was geared towards PvE (player vs. environment), EverQuest II has a similar focus. There are currently no plans for player vs. player combat in EverQuest II.

Someone needs to update that.

Anyhow, would someone please tell me what PvP is like in this game compared to WoW.  I am specifically interested in knowing if there are any PvP goals other than random encounters during leveling/questing.  Any large-scale encounters or siege-type gameplay?

Thanks.

When you kill the opposite faction they drop money and sometimes an item. That alone makes the PVP in EQ2 better than the CTF...er...I mean PVP in WoW.

Don't you get experience from PvP too?  The PvP in WoW was horrible so I can't imagine anything worse.

Yup, I dinged 16 by helping kill a 22 from quenos the other night....was quite funny.

The XP you get in PVP is actually really good... it would be the best way to grind if there was a constant stream of people to kill :)  Pretty sure if the players came at the rate of some of the grinding mobs someone could gain level 30 in a day.

That won't ever happen though so don't count on it.
