Akil Hooper, the Design Supervisor on EQII's upcoming expansion Echoes of Faydwer, answers our first salvo of questions. Every other Friday we'll be back at it asking and answering with SOE.
MMORPG.com: You told us at E3 that a player could decide to change their religion. What will they lose if they do?
Akil Hooper: Right now the current plan is to set them back as if they had never picked their first religion. If they've hurt their faction with their second religion they will probably have a longer road to travel until they are forgiven and their new deity is willing to accept them.
MMORPG.com: The adornment system
is it like an augmentation system? Elucidate!
Akil Hooper: It is similar to the EQ augmentation system, yes. Adornments will only be created via tradeskills. We have no plans to drop many, if any, adornments in the world. Although, some components used to make Adornments may be dropped. Adornments in EQII will also be easier to understand than EQ Augmentations. For instance, instead of putting a Gleaming Stone of Enchanting Light on your mace for +1 damage, you might be able to put a spike on it for +1 piercing damage. |

I think Desert of Flames is just great. Loads of new content. I have not tried out Kingdom of Skys yes, but I am really looking forward to the new one, especially as they promise new content for all levels and a new race...
That is the most ridiculous and lazy thing I have ever seen decided in an mmo!!!
What's the freaking point in even HAVING a fairy race if they're pretty much just shorter humans with wings?!
#1 everyone would then be making fairies. Lets say as you get higher in level your flying abilities increase. So whats the purpose of horses anymore then? It would be awesome but the fey population would be HUGE!
#2 They are going to give benefits for having the wings. Some they are still working on, so I'm just excited to see what these are.
I know fall is a long way away but also remember, thats A LOT of time for them to keep coming up with ideas to make it better! A lot can be done in that time frame and most of the things coming out with that expansion are still being decided.
I'm just waiting very patiently and even just happy they are taking so much effort to make the game better. But then again I've never been much of a complainer when it comes to gaming. If you've ever gotten a glimpse of what it takes to make even a small little thing in one of these games, you'd really learn to appreciate what they do!
Cheesey, I know, but that's my two cents.
Personally, I'm looking forward to see how they implement Unrest and Mistmoore for this expansion. Two of my all-time pre-Kunark zones. I still have nightmares about MM trains.
